**The opportunity**:
Reporting to the Director of Partnerships, Knowledge Mobilization, and Innovation, the Technology Transfer Specialist is part of a team supporting the promotion of all technology transfer activities at the University of Manitoba. They will assist in capturing the value of research through intellectual property and licensing, build collaborative partnerships with researchers and industry, and promote education around partnerships and intellectual property with researchers, service providers, investors, economic development agencies.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Life Science, or a closely related field required.
- Three years of directly-related experience in research and market analysis required.
- Experience in the commercialization of early-stage technologies required.
- Private sector business experience required.
- Experience with filing patents is preferred.
- Experience creating agreements preferred.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating research collaboration between industry and academia preferred.
- Experience with commercialization of technologies is preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the development, negotiation, and successful implementation of licensing agreements required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing intellectual property protection for early stage technologies required.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
- Problem analysis and problem-solving skills required.
- Highly motivated and self-directed.
- Ability to understand technical material required.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various levels of internal and external contacts required.
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and establish work priorities and deadlines required.
- Ability to provide advice and develop and present informational materials required.
- Ability to make decisions and plan and control tasks required.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize effective solutions required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
- Knowledge of University regulations, programs and procedures as they relate to the function/program.
- Valid Driver's license and access to a vehicle.
