We are looking for a Planning and Policy Analyst in our Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP). The Planning and Policy Analyst would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The Planning and Policy Analyst provides strategic level support for the development of relationships with key stakeholders (Other Government Departments, IRAP regions, division services, and client enablement, Corporate NRC branches) and supports the implementation of operational and strategic initiatives involving extensive consultation with senior IRAP, NRC and external stakeholders, at times leading projects or participating as IRAP’s representative in special organization-wide projects.

In addition, the Planning and Policy Analyst formulates and proposes approaches to address emerging priorities and challenges for IRAP, including by conducting or requesting various analyses (at times by external consultants), designing framework documents, and presenting them to the VP and/or the Senior Leadership Team, and manages annual planning and reporting processes, as well as preparation of quarterly updates on economic trends that are shared with all of NRC Management.

The Planning and Policy Analyst also has responsibilities for IRAP’s responses to complaints, ATIP requests, and parliamentary questions, following established processes and respecting privacy and confidentiality commensurate with the sensitivity of the file in question, and vetting external communications products prepared by the Communications Branch to ensure they do not contain elements that could have a negative impact on IRAP.

The Planning and Policy Analyst may have the opportunity to act as Executive Advisor to VP IRAP during his/her absence.

**Screening Criteria**:
**Education**:
University degree in science, engineering, business/public administration, law, political sciences, economics, international relations or in another field that is relevant to the duties of this position

**Experience**:

- Experience serving a number of internal and/or external clients and interacting with multiple stakeholders from government and/or the private sector.
- Experience in research (including environmental scanning), analysis, preparation and presentation of detailed reports on issues related to innovation, government science and/or technology policy, and their relevance/implication for Government/NRC and/or SMEs in Canada.
- Experience in providing executive support and/or advice to Senior Management.
- Experience in corporate level planning, business and/or policy development in a government or business environment.

**Assets**:

- Experience working in the office of a Senior Executive (e.g. VP or President).
- Experience working in IRAP and/or on IRAP-related files

- Solid knowledge of project management.

**Compensation**:
In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
