If so, we want to hear from you Join us as the Indigenous Relations Manager and you’ll be part of the Community and Indigenous Relations team supporting the Tilbury LNG Expansion Project.

As our Indigenous Relations Manager, you’ll use your interpersonal skills to build, maintain and strengthen our relationships with Indigenous communities to progress the Tilbury project forward, meeting all regulatory requirements and approvals. In this role, you’ll enact our Statement of Indigenous Principles to support the development and execution of FortisBC’s projects and initiatives.

This work includes engagement through regulatory processes to listen, learn, and incorporate community knowledge, understanding and mitigating concerns, and negotiating and developing agreements between FortisBC and communities to seek out potential economic or community partnership opportunities. In this role, you will:
Develop strategic engagement plans and provide guidance to project managers and leadership.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement strategies to minimize impacts on Indigenous communities and their interests.
Brief senior management on issues, performance reporting, and provide recommendations.
Establish and maintain relationships with Indigenous community leaders and communities-at-large.
Collaborate and provide mentorship to other members of the Indigenous Relations team
Negotiate consultation and economic agreements while developing, managing and maintaining budgets.
Understand the goals of our projects and initiatives and become an integral part of the team by building open, honest and respectful relationships
Set up our projects and initiatives for success by developing strategic plans, gathering input on project plans from Indigenous communities, and building mutually beneficial partnerships.
Walk-the-talk through implementing existing environmental and economic agreements What it takes:
Minimum of 5-7 years of Indigenous Relations experience working on a project of similar size and nature
Ability to manage issue related conflicts and issue resolution capacity (negotiation skills).
Ability to meet firm deadlines with mínimal supervision.
Project management expertise and balancing competing priorities.
Comfortable delivering presentations and navigating challenging conversations.
Ability to assert interests with competing perspectives.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a panache for team-building
Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships representatives from levels of government
Demonstrated Indigenous relations experience with communities in British Columbia
