If so, we want to hear from you Join us as the Indigenous Relations Liaison and you'll be part of the Community and Indigenous Relations team supporting the Eagle Mountain-Woodfibre Gas Pipeline (EGP) Project.

This project involves adding 50 kilometres of new gas pipeline between Coquitlam and Squamish. We anticipate construction for the project will begin in late August with initial construction activities beginning in Squamish.


As an Indigenous Relations Liaison, you'll support the efforts of the Indigenous Relations Manager to navigate the challenges, complexities, and opportunities of a major project in British Columbia by using your interpersonal skills to build, maintain and strengthen our relationships with Indigenous communities.

You'll enact our Statement of Indigenous Principles to support the development and execution of FortisBC's projects and initiatives.


This work includes contributing to the implementation of regulatory and project agreement commitments, as well as listening, learning, and incorporating community knowledge into the project.

The work also includes building genuine relationships that will last into the future, beyond the project.

In this role, you will:


Ensure our commitment to our Statement of Indigenous Principles, and strive to build and maintain effective relationships with Indigenous Peoples.

Provide support to the development and implementation of strategic engagement plans.
Seek opportunities to collaborate with Indigenous communities and build meaningful relationships.
Contribute to the implementation of project agreement commitments.

Understand the goals of our projects and initiatives and become an integral part of the team by building open, honest and respectful relationships.

Identify and pursue opportunities to support the initiatives and priorities of Indigenous communities.
Gather input on project plans from Indigenous communities and raise concerns and opportunities with the Indigenous Relations Manager

What it takes:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, communications or other related disciplines from a recognized program.
Minimum of 3 years of recent and related experience in Indigenous relations.
A detail-oriented and creative mindset with strongcommunication and problem-solving skills.
A genuine and authentic personality that creates and builds trusting and lasting relationships.
A passion for learning, understanding and supporting local and Indigenous communities.
A strategic ability to understand the overall picture of any situation to achieve long term success.
A confident communicator with excellent writing skills.

What you need to know:
Position may require evening and weekend work.
Travel between Surrey, Coquitlam, and Squamish will be required.
