**Location: Naughton, ON**

**POSITION SCOPE**:
Under the direction of the Lands Manager, and in accordance with the policies and procedures set out by Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, the Natural Resources Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the approved Forestry Management Plan, Codes of Practice and Forest Business Plan as well as assistance in the regulation and development of natural resources available to the First Nation.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Mandatory Requirements_
- A diploma in related field (Biology, Geography, Forestry, Agriculture) or diploma in Environmental Technology
- Or
- A minimum five years’ related work experience with other combinations of education.
- Additional Requirements_
- Ability to work effectively with the public, industry and coworkers.
- Ability to develop clear, concise and accurate written communications such as proposals, reports and correspondence.
- Ability to establish and manage priorities to ensure that services and functions are performed in an efficient and responsive manner.
- Working knowledge of computers and computer software.
- Knowledge of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek tradition and culture.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assist in the development/management of the environmental action plan.
- Understand and have knowledge of environmental management best practices.
- Understanding of Environmental matters such as water, forests, wind, air quality, land use and wildlife.
- Coordinate sensitive environmental initiatives dealing with legacy issues of historical impact.
- Collect samples of water for analysis; measure physical, biological and chemical workplace hazards; and conduct safety and environmental audits.
- Participate in communicate engagement sessions related to environmental issues and opportunities.
- Understand and keep abreast of current and future trends related to environmental concerns such as climate change, waste management, and land use planning.
- Participate in forming recommendations for problem sites and follow up on post problem areas.
- Exchange information about ongoing work with co-workers and colleagues
- Interact with the Chief Administrative Officer on a regular basis; clarify tasks, schedule appointments, discuss work processes
- Participate and assist in maintaining a Community Environmental Action Plan
- Participate and assist in sustainable development activities
- Provide advice to project development on implementation of recommendations from environmental documentation, corrective actions/resolutions, or issues that have an impact on the project.
- Maintains records on Environmental concerns and activities as assigned
- Operate and maintain GIS Database for Reserve Land Base and data input
- Recording new projects and appropriate compartment records in an environmental record keeping system
