**About Our Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager of Marine Resources, as the departmental lead for technology/knowledge transfer activities, the Seafood Industry Development Analyst plays a leading role in maximizing the growth opportunities for the seafood sectors by identifying, researching, analyzing, advocating for, and providing recommendations to senior management and the Minister on high-potential and emerging technical and industry development opportunities for the seafood sectors (ex. Fish harvesting and seafood processing).

**Primary Accountabilities**:
As the Seafood Industry Development Analyst, you will be responsible for leading the identification, development, delivery, and evaluation of strategies, programs, and projects that will facilitate the accelerated industry adoption of modern, state-of-the-art equipment, technologies and manufacturing processes that will support the ongoing transition of the seafood sector to being more efficient, profitable, and sustainable.

The Seafood Industry Development Analyst works independently under the direction of the Manager, Marine Resources and within broadly defined principles. The Seafood Industry Development Analyst researches high-potential technological advancements from around the world that could be adopted by Nova Scotia’s seafood sector. The Seafood Industry Development Analyst leads and collaborates with stakeholders, industry, and staff, representing a variety of professional disciplines and perspectives, to further the economic growth goals of the industry and department through seafood development-related activities.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
You must have a Bachelor's degree + 7 years of related experience in the seafood sector or ocean-based industries; or a Master's degree + 5 years experience in the seafood sector or ocean-based industries.
You must demonstrate strong technical experience in, and working knowledge of, Nova Scotia’s seafood sector in either an industrial manufacturing, food processing, industrial engineering, or other technical field that is directly related to, or can be applied to, the seafood processing or manufacturing sector.

You must demonstrate strong proactive analytical, evaluation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and articulate key strategic issues, practical solutions, opportunities, and risks, and can develop an in-depth analysis of the impact of existing or proposed industry development & innovation initiatives that will support rural economic growth.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of competence in written and verbal communication are essential to effectively interact with diverse groups and individuals while representing the Province's interests. Ability to analyze and explain difficult issues to support decisions and positions and can prepare written reports and briefing notes that are clear, concise, and meaningful. This work also requires an ability to forge strong relationships across all levels of government. Will have knowledge of and experience in developing and negotiating positions for government.

A registered technical certification in food technology, industrial process design, food processing/manufacturing, process automation, quality assurance, vessel design/construction or similar would be considered an asset.

You will have excellent writing skills, conceptual and analytical thinking, and interpersonal skills will be necessary for success in this position.

**Working Conditions**:
For this position, you must have a valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle and the ability and willingness to travel throughout Nova Scotia and periodically to other Canadian Provinces. Minimal international travel may also be required.
