Job Summary

The Environmental Sustainability Coordinator will play a crucial role in shaping the environmental and policy landscape of the Inuvik office. Reporting to the Director of Inuvialuit Lands, the Coordinator will be responsible for evaluating programs, policies, and projects to enhance the management and sustainability of Inuvialuit lands. This includes developing and analyzing program designs, drafting new policies, and evaluating environmental impacts.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate and analyze programs, policies, and projects to enhance the management and sustainability of Inuvialuit lands.
  2. Develop and implement sustainable land use practices and ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
  3. Provide expertise to the Inuvialuit Land Administration Commission (ILAC) on environmental matters.
  4. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to advance sustainable land management practices and goals.

Requirements

  1. A Master's degree in Environmental Management, Policy, or a related field (preferred); or a minimum of two years of related experience in environmental management or policy, in a cross-cultural or northern setting.
  2. Strong understanding of environmental legislation, regulations, and policies, particularly in the ISR and Northwest Territories.
  3. Proficiency in database management systems such as Microsoft Access.
  4. Ability to analyze business and government documents, including budgets, cost ledgers, and program evaluations.
  5. Proven ability to present complex information effectively to various audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
  6. Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year
