Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

**Main purpose of job**:
**Roles and responsibilities**:

- Work closely with policy leads, operational teams and the office of the High Commissioner at the British High Commission, to plan and deliver consistently first class senior official and ministerial visits from the UK.
- Coordinate programme of impactful and often high-profile events in Ottawa - including working hand in glove with and supporting the team at the British High Commissioner’s Residence - which will strengthen and highlight the UK-Canada relationship, showcasing the best of modern Britain and achieving maximum impact and value for money.
- Work with policy leads, corporate services teams across the breadth of the British High Commission in Ottawa and the broader UKinCanada network, to build expertise, establish robust system and set consistent standards and ways of working for visits and events.
- Build and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders across government of Canada, parliament and commercial communities.
- Work alongside the media and public affairs team to support them in ensuring UKinCanada visits and events achieve maximum positive exposure in both traditional and social media.
- Provide support to BHC Political team, particularly on scholarships and youth outreach.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

**Essential on arrival**:

- Must be legally allowed to work in Canada in October 2023.
- Visits and events management, planning and delivery experience.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Be a proactive self-starter, able to work independently but must be a positive team player.
- Ability to deal with a range of competing priorities in a collegiate, calm, and professional manner.
- Proficient in MS Office Applications.
- Strong, professional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of representation with government and a diverse range of organisations.

**Language requirements**:
Language: English (French valuable but not essential)

Level of language required: Fluent

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working with digital and traditional media. Photography/videography skills welcome.
- Experience working in an international environment.
