PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the payroll cycle and ensuring the smooth operations of payroll processing, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, standards, and work policies. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring the reliability and validity of data entered related to taxes, benefits, pension plans and various deductions.
- Review time and attendance records and correct errors.
- Contribute to the hiring of employees.
- Verify all necessary documents for tax deductions, payroll taxes, benefits, and other deduction purposes.
- Analyze data related to compensation, such as salaries and bonuses.
- Perform regular audits of payroll procedures and various records.
- Design, document and implement procedures to streamline the payroll processes.
- Monitor changes and developments in legislation (Income Tax Act, Employment Insurance Act, Labour Standards Act, etc.) related to salaries and benefits (payroll deductions, tax reforms, pension plans, scholarships, etc.) and informs their team and implements the required changes.
- Propose and participate in the improvement of processes and systems related to the processing of payroll data.
- Identify any file requiring special attention.
- Efficiently analyze the needs and write accurate payroll processing requests.
- Support the operations team in the payroll processes to ensure accuracy of configurations and data and legislative compliance.
- Participate in the definition and compliance of the various tools required for the proposed solutions.
- Support the payroll technicians in their payroll processes.
- Collaborate with other team members regarding operational needs.
- Perform data entry in the payroll software.
- Complete and follow up on employee files and provide information to employees on payroll issues.
- Participate in various special projects of the department.
- Perform all other related tasks to maintain or improve the services of the payroll department.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- College degree in accounting or related field.
- 5 years experience in a similar position in the payroll department.
- Knowledge of Canadian payroll standards.
- Bilingualism in French and English, spoken and written.
- Strong analytical skills & attention to detail.
- Dynamic & ability to work in a team.
- Knowledge of MS Office suite (advanced Excel an asset).
- Knowledge of the Dayforce system (an asset).
