**Location** - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person, with on-site work primarily taking place at North Campus, Edmonton.

**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Director of Principal Gifts, Strategy, and Initiatives, the Development Associate works as part of a collaborative team to design and implement strategic and tactical plans to attract extraordinary gifts to the University.

The Development Associate leads proposal development, prepares targeted communications, conducts research and analysis, and provides recommendations to identify and engage principal gift prospects. The Development Associate provides leadership in principal gifts programs and initiatives, and plays a key role in fundraising and management of a small portfolio of donors

**Duties**
- Providing senior level advice and support to the Director, Principal Gifts, Strategy, and Initiatives (PGSI).
- Developing fundraising strategies and defining opportunities to attract extraordinary gifts to the university
- Leading the development of proposals including researching and writing drafts, background documents, and project briefs
- Drafting correspondence and messaging
- Strategic writing based on best practices and principles
- Gathering and synthesizing information to facilitate strategic communication and correspondence
- Identify opportunities for proactive outreach and engagement of a small portfolio of donors within PGSI

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of development experience, preferably in a post-secondary setting
- Superior written and oral communication skills with experience in proposal writing
- Be self-motivated, accountable, proactive, energetic, creative and goal oriented
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple and shifting priorities
- Experience developing fundraising strategies and achieving objectives
- Demonstrated competency to work within a variety of business and social settings
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and juggle competing priorities in a high-paced environment
- An understanding and appreciation of the mission of a major research university and the ability to match creatively, the university's highest priority needs with the interests of prospective donors
