In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found at Faculty & Staff Benefits and annual salary range of $75,863 - $126,439.

**Location - **North campus. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in person

**Department summary**

The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is looking for a relationship builder with a knack for process thinking to join our team of dynamic, passionate, and effective development professionals. Reporting to the Senior Development Associate, the Development Associate will be responsible for engaging prospective donors, alumni, faculty, students and stakeholders to build support for the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (FoMD).

**Position summary**

The Development Associate is an experienced fundraiser committed to developing and delivering on outstanding philanthropic priorities, and to enhance the faculty’s reputation as world-class. The Associate Director works collaboratively with the Senior Development Associates, the Assistant Dean, Development, the Dean when appropriate, Faculty Department Chairs and Institute Directors, academic teams, individuals and advisory boards to build and execute a strategic development program in the Faculty that fosters strong personal and professional philanthropic relationships that result in contributions from individuals and organizations; and serves as a trusted resource, advocate, and spokesperson for fund-raising efforts.

**Duties**

Participates in strategy development and execution for faculty fundraising:

- Works with the Dean of Medicine & Dentistry, Assistant Dean, Development (ADD), Senior Development Associates, Advancement and faculty-based leaders to develop appropriate fundraising priorities for the faculty
- Works with the Senior Development Associate to establish and evaluate annual fundraising targets and operational plans
- Reports regularly to the Senior Development Associate on progress toward annual fundraising targets, including bi-weekly updates and annual performance evaluations
- Remains up-to-date on current fundraising and volunteer-leadership management programs, practices and procedures being used at the University and health-care sectors, which will benefit and interest them in their work on behalf of the Faculty, Department, Institute and the University. Attends internal and external training and development as appropriate

Major gift fundraising:

- Adheres to the University of Alberta Prospect Management Policy
- Serves as the Prospect Manager for an active portfolio of major gift donors, of approximately 90-100 individuals; for the purpose of managing the moves process for research, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of those individuals
- Personally visits 100 or more major gift prospects/donors annually
- Builds rigorous goal setting combined with regular tracking, reporting and transparency for their portfolios
- Ensures that established donors and friends are cultivated and stewarded regularly and appropriately, to be ultimately matched with appropriate gift opportunities
- Identifies and engages volunteers as advisors to the faculty fundraising strategies as Appropriate

Administration and Communication:

- Provides reporting to build accountability within their portfolio to ensure goals are met, on schedule
- Establish and report on goals for assigned internal portfolio with the assistance of Directors, Development
- Nurture and help further fundraising knowledge and expertise within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry
- Participate on and lead, when appropriate, central-based committees
