**Purpose**:
Our Manager Philanthropy and Community Engagement is a unique position that leverages your natural relationship building skills to work with donors and volunteers to generate philanthropic support. This is an exciting opportunity to grow a young annual giving program and work with donors of all levels and points of entry, who wish to support people who need a safe and affordable home.

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Manager of Philanthropy and Community Engagement is responsible for executing, advancing, and enhancing the strategic operational and revenue goals of the annual giving program. The Manager of Philanthropy and Community Engagement will supervise and develop the team’s Philanthropy and Communications Coordinator, ensuring brand consistency and alignment across all channels.

**Responsibilities**:
Areas of responsibility of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Annual Giving:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual giving program, to support and facilitate the acquisition, renewal, recurring gifts, and upgrade of our annual donors.
- Develop the production of the annual appeals calendar and provides insight on segmentation strategies for each appeal and overall oversight to ensure deployment of all aspects of the campaign.
- Collaborate with our Philanthropy and Communications Coordinator to create compelling fundraising materials and messages, supporting multi channeled communication strategies.
- Ensure high quality and personable donor engagement and assistance, proactively through timely thank you calls, cards and follow up to donor gifts and inquiries.
- Prepare, manage, and report on the annual giving budget and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Manage the Direct Mail program including relationships with writers, printers, designers, mail house, and Canada Post contract.
- Develop, implement, and manage an annual giving donor recognition program as part of an overall annual stewardship plan.

Database Management:

- Lead the creation and implementation of effective data management strategies to ensure high quality data is up to date and available to support timely decision making and reporting.

Communications:

- Collaborate with the Philanthropy and Communications Coordinator in the creation, design, and deployment of program materials required for internal and external communication, events, and social media channels.

Community Engagement:
Intentional community engagement is a new activity for Philanthropy program. Our goal is to expand our networks, build awareness around the Salus brand, and increase revenue through authentic relationship building. The Manager of Philanthropy and Community Engagement will create cultivation strategies to introduce and engage community and business partners by:

- Leading the development of a community engagement strategy, including KPI’s and year one goals of positioning our brand, expanding our network, and building our pipeline.
- Prepare and present proposals for sponsorships, outright gifts, gifts in kind, matching gifts, and attend events as a brand ambassador.

**Knowledge and Experience**:

- Strong knowledge of CRA charitable guidelines.
- Experience and proficiency using Donor Perfect or another fundraising database.
- Experience selecting and pulling data for mailings and reports would be considered a strong asset.
- Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, Canva, InDesign, Hootsuite/Buffer.

- Relationship building with multiple audiences (internal and external) and a genuine and authentic ability to connect with people.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort with public speaking or presentations to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional storytelling ability to inspire internal audiences, stakeholders, and donors.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to work autonomously and efficiently on multiple projects with competing deadlines.
