Launched in 2019, the Equality Fund has committed $53 million to date and is supporting 650 organizations working in 90 countries globally.


THE OPPORTUNITY


Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Philanthropy, the Director of Philanthropy is a key member of the philanthropy team, leading and aligning the Equality Fund's (EF) fund mobilization activities with the organization's values, strategic priorities, and mission.

The Director provides leadership to the overall direction of the philanthropy program and develops, implements, and evaluates philanthropic strategies with the purpose of generating philanthropic revenue in support of the work of EF.

The Director identifies prospective donors, establishes relationships through various formal and informal cultivation activities, solicits and closes gifts, and provides meaningful stewardship to donor partners.


SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct Fundraising
  • Donor cultivation, solicitation, engagement, and stewardship (75%)_
  • Oversees, leads, and manages the growth of major gifts revenue, including instituting best practices in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of five, six, and sevenfigure gifts;
  • Develops and implements fundraising strategies for a sustainable, integrated, and diversified philanthropy program that is innovative, progressive, and valuesaligned across the giving spectrum, including annual and planned giving;
  • Designs and leads the implementation of specific campaigns for each philanthropic program including direct mail, online giving, annual/specific campaigns, events etc.;
  • Works with the philanthropy team to grow EF's base of support from individuals using traditional and trending forms of donor prospecting and engagement, including prospect researcher(s) to identify and qualify supporters at major donor levels;
  • Creates opportunities to educate, uplift, inspire, and engage donors and prospects and provides timely presentations, proposals, reporting, and updates on collective impact and success;
  • Collaborates with AVP, CEO, senior EF leaders, Board of Directors, and other team members to maximize philanthropic opportunities and outcomes.
  • Leads regular analysis and reporting on the overall performance of fundraising against goals and the strategic plan; and
  • Oversees fundraising operational excellence; identifies and oversees the buildout and implementation of all systems, procedures, and processes necessary for efficiency, efficacy, and optimization of the fundraising function e.g. accurate tracking of gifts, donor interactions, relationships, and information within Salesforce to maximize and inform future donor engagement and stewardship activities; including liaising with the finance department to enhance fundraising tracking reports.
  • Leadership and Management (25%)_
  • In partnership with the AVP, senior leadership, and other stakeholders, supports the development and implementation of an innovative, progressive, and valuesaligned vision and strategic framework for EF's feminist resource mobilization work;
  • Serves as a collaborative member of the philanthropy team and supports the AVP in ensuring EF is wellpositioned as a leader in the feminist philanthropy ecosystem and amongst other progressive donor networks;
  • Ensures accountability for the team's goals and risk management relating to meeting the annual fund mobilization targets in coordination with the AVP. The Director is also expected to propose corrective measures when needed;
  • Leads the Philanthropy team in creating and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan to achieve annual philanthropic revenue and programmatic goals; monitors and interprets performance and trends and proactively adapts to ongoing challenges and opportunities;
  • Provides thought leadership for increased growth, opportunities for innovation, and efforts to increase diversity among donors and diversification of gifts;
  • Provides direction, support, and feedback to the Manager of Major Gifts and; develops team goals and key performance indicators; provides regular performance feedback and reviews to direct report while building/maintaining positive culture and morale;
