The Community Engagement Worker (CEW), is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, volunteers and community members to identify community priorities and desired outcomes. The CEW will work with the volunteer coordinator, communications officer and the health promotion team to deliver quality and efficient programming in the community while addressing issues and assist community members to build support networks.

**Education**
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a relevant discipline or, equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience.

**Professional Experience**
- Three to five years full-time relevant experience in a community setting.
- Experience in providing community-based services including crisis intervention, system navigation, group work, referrals, and advocacy.
- Experience and interest in working with equity-seeking and diverse clientele, low-income, high-needs, homelessness, individuals living with substance use, newcomers, older adults and a variety of multicultural communities.
- Experience and knowledge of the fundamentals of community engagement and program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Experience in a non-profit, community-based organization.

- Thorough knowledge and understanding of community resources and relevant city services.
- Good networking skills in an effort to establish good working relations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to respond and be flexible to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in crisis situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

**Linguistic Profile**
- This position falls within Carlington CHC’s designation under the French Language Services Act of Ontario.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Fluency in French is required at Level (Advanced) for oral expression/comprehension and Level (Intermediate +) for written expression.
- Fluency in another language relevant to our client population is an asset.
