The Indigenous Educator is responsible for the development and implementation of Indigenous-centred learning programs, activities, and resources for the National Gallery in-person, on-line and in communities. This person engages with Indigenous communities, visitors, artists and other stakeholders in the context of public-facing Gallery activities. The Indigenous Educator collaborates in multidisciplinary Gallery teams, including exhibition teams and departmental working groups, particularly in conjunction with Indigenous-centred initiatives. They work frequently and closely with members of the Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Decolonization group in alignment with the NGC’s commitments to Indigenous peoples, and decolonization.

**Requirements**:

- You have knowledge in Indigenous art and culture and in one or more of the following fields: Art History, Interpretation, Museology, or Education, or an acceptable combination of education, experience, and training.
- You possess a good understanding of Indigenous pedagogies and ways of being and knowing related to Indigenous artistic and cultural practices.
- Experience conceiving and developing educational workshops, tours, events or other activities for a variety of audiences.
- 3-5 years’ experience working with Indigenous individuals and communities
- 1-2 years’ experience in public speaking such as giving presentations, tours, training sessions and/or workshops
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment
- Knowledge of basic project management skills including budgets, time management and reporting.
- Acknowledgement of a bilingual (English and French) work environment and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues to provide services to the public in both languages.
