As an Indigenous Relations Manager Lead, you will play a key role in advising management and project teams on matters of protocol and cultural sensitivities when interacting with various Indigenous communities, groups, and individuals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise Management and Project Teams on matters of protocol and cultural sensitivities related to interacting with Indigenous communities.
  • Consult and Advise PSPC directorate within the Centre Block project on the Indigenous Participation Plan (IPP).
  • Increase Business Opportunities for Indigenous partners by coordinating meetings between Indigenous communities/organizations and PCL representatives.
  • Participate in Business Development and assist the team with proposals, negotiation of agreements, securement of contracts, and identifying business opportunities within Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Support Operations Team in planning, logistics, and budgeting as it pertains to work in Indigenous communities.
  • Connect and Build Relations with Indigenous communities and organizations, particularly where PCL has existing partnership agreements in place.
  • Provide Leadership and Mentorship on PCL's approach to reconciliation, community involvement, and community development.
  • Identify, Track, and Monitor issues, concerns, and interests identified by Indigenous communities, clients, and partners on how PCL can support mutually beneficial relationships and capacity building programs.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in arts, humanities, community development, Indigenous studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ Years of Experience with Indigenous relations at a management level.
  • Intercultural Experience preferably with a focus on working with Indigenous nations in community development activities.
  • Engineering, Construction Management, or Similar Experience considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Government Commitments to implement Indigenous Participation Plans in all bids related to contract bidding from Public Service and Procurement Canada.
  • Knowledge of Current Legal Climate and Issues Affecting Indigenous Peoples.
  • Strong Organizational and Planning Skills.
  • Ability to Develop and Advance Strategic Community Solutions.
  • Ability to Travel to Indigenous Communities.
  • Ability to Speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.
