Innovate Calgary is the technology transfer and business incubator center for the University of Calgary. As part of the Office of the Vice-President (Research) portfolio, we work with University of Calgary researchers, students, and other members to bridge the gap between discovery and create economic and societal impact.

**The Role**:
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, this position plays a key role in the design, planning, and execution of Innovate Calgary's key strategic events and stakeholder engagement initiatives. This role provides event planning advice to other Innovate Calgary teams and develops the processes to ensure that all Innovate Calgary events, virtual and in-person, are consistently high-value, meaningful experiences.

This role requires close collaboration with the rest of the Innovate Calgary team and partners within our ecosystem, including the University of Calgary.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, creative, and passionate about details and delivering memorable, exciting events.

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Plans and executes large-scale Innovate Calgary events in collaboration with strategic partners, including but not limited to steering committee meetings, exhibitions and trade show booths, program launches, celebration events and other stakeholder engagement events.
- Acts as an event planning resource or advisor for other Innovate Calgary staff.
- Develops and monitors company best practices and standard procedures for event planning, stakeholder engagement, and stewardship of sponsors, funders, and partners.
- Supports the Head of Marketing and Communications with developing event proposals, budgets, recommendations, and vendor statements of work and contracts.
- Supports the development and execution of marketing and communications plans related to events and sponsorships, including producing creative briefs, promotional materials, and website and social media content.
- Supports the Head of Marketing & Communications with identifying strategic sponsorship opportunities and ensuring that all sponsorship benefits and requirements are executed properly.
- Accommodates working outside regular hours and opportunities for travel, where required.

**Qualifications**:

- 5+ years of related work in events management and marketing
- Significant experience in creating integrated event plans that meet or exceed marketing and organizational objectives
- Post-secondary degree in a related field is an asset.
- Exceptional organizational, time-management, and planning skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, a keen sense of urgency, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality
- Passion for innovation and entrepreneurship
- Experience working with large post-secondary or government institutions is an asset
- Experience working with startup companies is an asset
