**The Opportunity**:*
The Growth team is responsible for seeking out and developing strategic, high-impact partnerships with organizations that support the programmatic, financial sustainability and wellbeing of the ecosystem activated within the Platform Innovation Centre. The Growth team portfolio includes over 110 ecosystem partner organizations, professional services firms (as part of the Platform Pillar Team program), corporate sponsors for space, program and events.
As Platform Calgary's Lead, Sponsorship you are energized by creating connections and value for a fast-growing community of innovators. As a member of the Platform Calgary team, reporting to the Director, Growth, you will lead Platform’s efforts to work with sponsors in order to:
- support the growth and advancement of tech startups
- develop partnerships and initiatives that add value to the tech community
- activate the Platform Innovation Centre
- create predictable financial sustainability for Platform and the Innovation Centre
**What you will be doing**:
Sponsorship
As Calgary’s front door for innovators, Platform Calgary and the Platform Innovation Centre host:
- 1,400+ participants through startup programming
- 20,000 annual visitors to the Platform Innovation Centre
- A calendar of yearly events that amplify and celebrate the work of the tech community
Platform Calgary seeks out sponsorships that include a full suite of opportunities. Revenue earned from sponsorship of programs, events and spaces, as well as from ticket sales of Platform signature events is critical to contributing to the operational success of the organization.
This role includes the following areas of work:
Planning & Targeting Sponsorship Opportunities
- Lead the organization-wide strategy on long and short-term sponsorship opportunities
- Set and measure annual sponsorship targets relative to annual business objectives
- Liaise with other internal teams to create collateral and other communication around sponsorship opportunities
Outreach
- Create expressions of interest, requests for proposals and other documentation as necessary for outreach
- Manage and periodically report on sponsor pipeline
- Track and report on prospecting, conversations and other metrics to the Growth Team and Platform Senior Leadership
- Liaise with Marketing team for campaign-related outreach and sponsor attraction/recruitment collateral materials
- Help develop strategy for, and participate in direct sales outreach for, ticket sales for Platform Calgary signature events
Execution
- Build strong and long-term relationships with sponsor organizations based on trust and open communication
- Oversee the negotiation and contracting of sponsor agreements
- Steward relationships with new and existing sponsors
- Nurture the sponsor community through recognition and reporting
Fulfillment
- Be the sponsors’ internal champion in advocating to internal teams activities around fulfillment, relationship management, feedback and measurement
- Create robust feedback loops between sponsors and internal teams to improve the experience of sponsors
- Manage and execute sponsorship renewals
- Alongside internal teams, support the development of timely ROI/impact reporting to sponsors
**What you will bring**:
- 6+ years in a business development, sales, sponsorship or fundraising role
- A client-facing approach that puts clients at the heart of your role
- Success in developing and nurturing corporate relationshipsExcellent communication skills including proposal writing, presentation development and contracting
- Proficiency in GSuite products, CRM (Hubspot) and workflow tools
