**SCOPE**
Reporting to the Director, Student Communications, the incumbent designs and implements communications strategies and initiatives to promote activities and improve the student experience at the University. They manage a portfolio of communications projects and oversee a team that supports Concordia’s student experience and student success goals through developing, implementing and project managing communications strategies and initiatives targeting various audiences.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develop and plan integrated communications strategies to both support student-facing units in consultation and collaboration with key stakeholders, and execute communications plans for projects, initiatives, resources and events targeting students.
- Develop, manage and supervise the production of content and materials for a variety of media and platforms in consultation with University stakeholders. Create workback plans, set project kick-off meetings and oversee project timelines and production schedules. Ensure that all content is clear, well written, uses appropriate imagery and tone of voice, targets intended audiences, reflects Concordia’s identity and brand and is in line with Concordia’s priorities and strategic directions. Tasks include but are not limited to writing, editing and proofreading in English and French, fact-checking, interviewing, reviewing, researching info, liaising with colleagues, and coordinating projects.
- Make updates to the Concordia website, in areas the pertain to students including but not limited to the Concordia hub, /academics as per University Communication Services (UCS) requests, and in a proactive manner in line with communications plans.
- Hire, train, schedule, assign work, monitor, evaluate, and motivate unit personnel.
- Write content for targeted and mass communications via the CRM, ensuring that content sent to students via the CRM follows University branding and guidelines. In collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders, consult/advise on non-central CRM communications.
- Develop benchmarks, identify best practices as well as measures for evaluating the effectiveness of communications activities. Establish a mechanism/process to regularly inform and educate colleagues and stakeholders about results and insights.
- Act as UCS representative at institutional events such as convocation, able to relay information on any unforeseen circumstances.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director, Student Communications.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the primary responsibilities and four to seven years of experience in communications, with at least one year of supervisory and/or managerial experience.
- Proven experience managing or leading a team and working with senior-level decision-makers.
- Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English to write fluently and persuasively on sensitive and complex topics; good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken French, to give and understand descriptions that may involve complicated details, and to support opinions.
- Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Planner.
- Proven experience with collaboration tools and platforms (e.g. Teams, Sharepoint, Google Drive).
- Proven track record of success in conceptualizing, developing and implementing sophisticated and differentiated marketing and communication strategies.
- Demonstrated skills in interviewing, writing, copywriting, editing, and proofreading.
- Possess a deep understanding of student information needs and how communications can be leveraged to influence student decision making.
- In-depth knowledge of educational environment with particular emphasis on students’ needs and concerns.
- Full understanding of social media platforms.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with large volumes output expectations.
- Keen attention to detail.
