The Community Research Platform (CRP) is an ongoing partnership between the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) and 5 anchor organizations in the Hamilton community. The CRP facilitates research collaborations in a way that builds, facilitates, and sustains relationships of trust and reciprocity between McMaster scholars and colleagues at partner organizations. This “relational infrastructure” fosters ethical and robust programs of community-engaged research and meaningfully advances community wellbeing.
A key goal of the CRP is to increase the research capacity of all partners and to ensure knowledge gained from research projects is shared and taken up in a way that is equitable, accessible, and impactful. To further advance the CRP’s research and knowledge mobilization infrastructure, processes, and resources, we are seeking a part-time Knowledge Mobilization (KMb) Coordinator. This position reports to the CRP Program Manager and works closely with McMaster faculty, students and staff and community partner stakeholders.

**Job Summary**
The Project Officer will be the Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator. Responsible for assisting senior research staff with tasks related to identifying, planning, and managing research projects and initiatives. Analyzes research project and initiative requirements and works with others to determine the required logistics, budgets, and fund allocations.

**Purpose and Key Functions**
- Design projects, studies, and questionnaires.
- Analyze research project requirements and work with various researchers to determine project logistics.
- Develop and conduct surveys to gather and extract information from external agencies.
- Develop and monitor research project budgets, and determine allocation of funds.
- Utilize statistical software to process numerical and quantitative information.
- Draft research proposals and grants for review.
- Submit finalized research proposals and grants.
- Write articles for newsletters and promotional materials.
- Update and maintain the department website ensuring the accuracy of online content.
- Create graphic designs when preparing presentations.
- Deliver presentations at meetings and seminars.
- Provide advice and guidance to students and part-time staff regarding project specifications and protocols.
- Provide support to senior staff when negotiating with national and international organizations in the development of projects.
- Plan and coordinate a variety of events and activities.
- Arrange, attend, and facilitate meetings with faculty, staff, and students.
- Adhere to social and cultural protocols when meeting with international visitors.
- Exchange technical and scientific information amongst colleagues.
- Complete literature searches relevant to current research projects.
- Collate and distribute mailings.
- Remain current with the activities of the project team to ensure project deadlines are met.

**Additional Information**

Key Responsibilities:
KMb environmental scan and needs assessment:

- Conducting an environmental scan of the McMaster KMb landscape.
- Facilitating consultations with FSS faculty, staff, and CRP partners about KMb to identify gaps, needs, opportunities.
- Meeting with CRP partner organizations to consider and identify ways they could benefit from, and contribute to, KMb resources and supports.
- Exploring models for supporting community partners with grant development; including access to and translation of relevant academic literature to bolster funding proposals.
- Developing a set of recommendations on how the CRP could better support KMb in the FSS (and beyond) in collaboration with partner agencies.

KMb support:

- Working with CRP project teams to support the planning and implementation of KMb activities.
- Supporting the planning and execution of a CER Day at McMaster in collaboration with other campus (e.g. Office of Community Engagement, SPARK) and community partners.
- Developing news pieces to post on partner agency sites and CRP news page highlighting projects, research findings, research publications, presentations, etc; connecting with Faculty of Social Sciences Communications team when appropriate to get further circulation of news stories through McMaster Brighter World and Daily News.
- Updating content for the CRP webpage to better reflect our work and projects; exploring the use of social media to build awareness of CRP work.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum Undergraduate degree in a relevant area of study.
- Demonstrated interest in community based, action-oriented research.
- Formal training and/or experience in community-engaged research and/ or knowledge mobilization in an academic or community-based setting.
- Minimum 3 years of successful project coordination experience.
