The CLSA is seeking an experienced individual to assume responsibility CLSA's Quality Management System (QMS) initiative. Reporting to the Manager of Scientific Operations, they will work closely with staff and teams across the CLSA on quality control and quality assurance projects and activities. CLSA data come from numerous sources, including computer-assisted telephone surveys, personal interviews, physical performance tests, and biospecimen collection. The QMS is central to all aspects of the CLSA platform and fully supports the CLSA in achieving the highest quality data and biospecimens possible.

**Job Summary**: Responsible for assisting senior research staff with tasks related to identifying, planning, and managing international research projects and initiatives. Analyzes research project and initiative requirements and works with others to determine the required logistics, budgets, and fund allocations.

**Key Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Design projects, studies, and questionnaires.
- Analyze research project requirements and work with various researchers to determine project logistics.
- Develop and conduct surveys to gather and extract information from external agencies.
- Develop and monitor research project budgets, and determine allocation of funds.
- Utilize statistical software to process numerical and quantitative information.
- Draft research proposals and grants for review.
- Submit finalized research proposals and grants.
- Write articles for newsletters and promotional materials.
- Update and maintain the department website ensuring the accuracy of online content.
- Create graphic designs when preparing presentations.
- Deliver presentations at meetings and seminars.
- Provide advice and guidance to students and part-time staff regarding project specifications and protocols.
- Provide support to senior staff when negotiating with national and international organizations in the development of projects.
- Plan and coordinate a variety of events and activities.
- Arrange, attend, and facilitate meetings with faculty, staff, and students.
- Adhere to social and cultural protocols when meeting with international visitors.
- Exchange technical and scientific information amongst colleagues.
- Complete literature searches relevant to current research projects.
- Collate and distribute mailings.
- Remain current with the activities of the project team to ensure project deadlines are met.

**Supervision**:

- Provide direction to others in how to carry out work tasks.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures for short-term staff.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study.
- Requires 3 years of relevant experience.

**Additional Information**:
This role is an on-site position at McMaster Innovation Park with the potential for limited remote work.
- Defining quality policies and processes within the context of research.
- Developing and implementing plans and tools for monitoring study processes, internally and across collaborating institutions/sites, as well as data collection practices and control techniques.
- Developing Key Performance Indicators for a project/study.
- Creating and maintaining an educational program that includes periodic training for staff on established quality practices, compliance topics and effective data collection procedures.
- Developing audit protocols for data collection including questionnaires and physical measures.
- Conducting periodic internal audits and assessments to ensure compliance procedures are followed.
- Providing metric reports regarding research study quality and compliance issues to the management team, for process improvements and to ensure best practices are followed.
- Developing and tracking monitoring-related Corrective and Preventive Action Plans.
- Contributing to the planning, design, execution, and interpretation of process optimization initiatives.
- Preparing reports and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Establishing and / or working with documentation management systems.
- Establishes a process to ensure monitoring quality control is performed and to ensure performance goals are met.
- Participating in continuous improvements of quality systems (procedures and systems) to improve organization effectiveness, quality assurance compliance, and other requirements.
- Educational preparation in quality improvement, certificate in quality improvement or equivalent in the use of quality improvement methods and tools.
- Experience working within an ISO certified organization.
- LEAN Six Sigma certification or equivalent preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent preferred.
