Evaluating these new models of care is a more recent area of research with an approach that is unique and requires a combination of quantitative and qualitative work.

**JOB SUMMARY**

The Connected Care Team at the University Health Network is seeking a **Student Research Assistant** to work with our external evaluator, the Population Health Analytics Lab at University of Toronto to support an evaluation of UHN’s Integrated Care (IC) initiative in surgery. The key elements of the IC Program includes 1) an IC Lead who serves as the primary point of contact for one consistent care team across hospital and homecare, 2) access to the IC 24/7 line for any questions or concerns, 3) one shared digital record, which enables the one team and access to care, and 4) an integrated fund consisting of bundled services and payment. The evaluation of the IC Program will consist of various components across the model of care. One aspect of the evaluation seeks to provide quantitative insights on quality outcomes (e.g., length of stay, subsequent emergency department visits, and hospital readmission) and hospital costs. While the other aspect is to analyze the qualitative insights received from piloting patient reported experience measures around measuring patient and caregiver experience in Orthopedic Surgery.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Experience**:

- Experience with multiple types of statistical analysis, including generalized linear models, binomial, and multinomial logistic regression
- Experience with health administrative databases (e.g., hospitalization data and emergency department visits)
- Experience with collecting and analyzing qualitative data (e.g., thematic analysis)
- Experience with drafting data-access paperwork
- Experience in working with hospital-sector partners
- Experience writing reports for public dissemination
- Experience writing and submitting manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals

**Skills**:

- Experience in statistical analysis using at least 1 of the following software: SAS or R
- Experience and proficiency with qualitative software (NVivo) to conduct qualitative analysis
- Experience with mixed-methods studies
- Experience and proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, EndNote and other software packages and programming languages currently used to collect, analyze, and report data
