Early Years Lead

**DESCRIPTION**
Reporting to the Early Years Manager, the Early Years Lead will play an essential role in supporting the Manager with day-to-day operations, coaching and mentorship to the EarlyON team and community relations. The Lead role is responsible for developing and supporting best practices for enhancing infant and children’s mental health promotion through education, specialized programming, workshops, resources, networking and advocacy for parents/caregivers, service partners and the Early Years community.
**One contract, full-time position available (35 hours a week) covering a staff leave for 16 months or until the staff on leave returns, whichever is earlier.**
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Parent and Caregiver Support**: Offer support, guidance, specialized programs, and resources to parents and caregivers to help them better understand infant and child mental health, parenting techniques, and available services.
- **Referrals**: Provide pathways to services for families and caregivers for additional services or support when needed, such as mental health services, early intervention programs, or community resources.
- **Resource Development**: Create and provide resources, information, and educational materials that are evidence-based and relevant to early years development, mental health and well-being.
- **Education and Workshops**: Organize and conduct workshops, seminars, and educational sessions for parents, caregivers, and service providers on topics related to early childhood development and mental health.
- **Professional Development**: Stay informed about the latest research, trends, and best practices in early childhood development and mental health.
- **Community Networking & Engagement**: Engage with the local community, families, and service providers to understand their needs and concerns related to infant and child mental health and well-being. Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, agencies, and service providers to ensure a coordinated approach to early years development and mental health.
- **Community of Practice**: Engage in the ROCK Early Years Mental Health Community of Practice (EYMH COP), fostering internal service collaboration and partnerships with community agencies serving priority populations.
- **Cultural Sensitivity**: Consider and respect the cultural and linguistic diversity within the community and tailor services and resources accordingly.
- **Partnerships and Collaboration**: Work closely with other professionals, including educators, healthcare providers, social workers, and community leaders to ensure a holistic approach to early childhood development, and infant and children’s mental health and well-being.
- **Data Collection**: Supporting manager in gathering data and information on the needs and progress of children and families in the community to help tailor support programs and resources. Comply and ensure that the agency and funders reporting and recording requirements are completed in a timely manner.
- **Evaluation**: Continuously assess the effectiveness of programs and resources and make improvements as necessary.
- **Mandates**: Maintain current knowledge of, and adherence to, the agency’s policies and procedures as well as relevant legislation related to regulations and restrictions with in-person services and programs.
- Operationalize client safety through and adhering to established policies and guidelines that ensure consistency in the delivery of quality and safe care and by identifying and reporting any client safety incidents.
- Abide by the specific requirements of Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as any further health and safety responsibility as outlined in the agency policy and procedure documents.
- Other duties as may reasonably be assigned.
**Education**:
- Early Childhood Education Diploma, Early Childhood Studies Degree, Child and Youth Diploma, Social Work degree, or relevant education.
- Resource Consultant Certificate is an asset.
- Children’s Mental Health Certificate is an asset.
**Experience**:
- Minimum three years of experience supporting children and families.
- Previous experience in a supporting leadership role is an asset.
- Proven expertise in facilitating groups, presentations and workshops.
- Involvement in with working with diverse families and communities.
- Demonstrated understanding of Infant and Children’s Mental Health.
- Proficiency in the Early Years Framework.

- Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
