**Position Overview**:
The English Language Program at The University of Winnipeg is seeking an English as an Additional Language (EAL/ESL) instructor for Workplace Skills Development (workplace English) Workshop as part of the Explore Program the Short-Term General Purpose English Program to support students who will be participating in the Languages at Work component.

Explore is a five-week intensive English-immersion bursary program offered to Canadian students in order to learn and practice their second official language.

The Languages at Work Program is a joint initiative of the Explore Program and Young Canada Works. Designed for Explore bursary recipients, Languages at Work offers participants unique opportunities to continue learning their second language in a professional context. Following the completion of the Spring Explore program, bursary recipients will have the opportunity to stay in Winnipeg for job placements.
- This posting will be used to hire for Spring & Summer Intensive sessions based on student enrollment._

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Course preparation and outline in accordance with Program requirements
- Lesson / lecture preparation
- Attendance management
- Teaching
- Student contact including providing assessment and constructive feedback to students
- Participation in placement testing, staff meetings, orientations and graduation ceremonies
- Preparation and creation of assessments
- Marking and grading
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications and Education Requirements**:

- TESL Certificate or CELTA required
- Undergraduate degree required
- Minimum 1 year experience designing and implementing activities and exercises addressing different themes and topics related to Canadian workplace and business English
- Knowledge of Canadian workplace culture, professionalism and attitudes
- Knowledge of creating and implementing needs assessments
- Experience providing informal student assessments and formal student evaluation
- Knowledge and experience implementing various classroom management techniques
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, and conflict-resolution skills to deal effectively with a wide variety of situations
- Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with online tools and resources for teaching
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues of a diverse student body

- Experience using online teaching platforms considered an asset
- Knowledge of a language additional to English considered an asset
