The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) supports faculty and course instructors in their professional development as teachers, and provides consultations, resources and technology support to enhance learningin their courses and programs. CTL also enhances academic skill development both within and beyond courses through our English Language Development Support, Facilitated Study Groups, Mathematics and Statistics Learning Support, Experiential Learning, and Writing Support programs.

**Your opportunity**:
Under the general supervision of the Manager Finance and Administration and working with other members of the Centre for Teaching and Learning, the Facilitated Study Group (FSG) Coordinator will be responsible for running the FSG programs, including the selection and training of facilitators, timetabling of study group sessions, and assessing the impact of study group participation. The FSG Coordinator will also ensure that the Facilitated Study Groups are welcoming to all international students and students with AccessAbility. The FSG Coordinator will also serve as a resource to the Centre for Teaching and Learning as well as various departments on campus regarding discussion and team work facilitation. It is expected that the FSG Coordinator will work closely with members of the CTL, campus staff, and academic departments, and other U of T campuses and Ontario Universities offering similar study group programming. The FSG Coordinator will also play a key role as a member of the Centre for Teaching and Learning’s Student Support Committee.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Developing and implementing new programs and initiatives independently
- Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts (e.g. liaises with faculty to articulate and discuss the pedagogical value of FSGs and invite their courses to participate in the program, obtaining recommendations for students as potential facilitators, and liaising as needed with the instructor throughout the semester)
- Screening and making referrals to academic advising and learning skills programs and other resources or services
- Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives (e.g. develops and implements ideas to promote FSG usage as part of course curriculum)
- Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities (e.g. generates reports on participation statistics to: track the effectiveness or impact of the study groups on overall class performance on a course by course basis; establish a benchmark of accountability according to the objectives of the Centre of Teaching and Learning and UTSC; and that supports a methodology for assessing and improving the program’s ability to meet its goals)
- Coordinating the recruitment process and training of casual staff (e.g. prepares and conducts the FSG training program during the semester, including preparation of materials and activities, mentoring facilitators, and collaborating with other CTL staff for inclusion of specific training modules)
- Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related Guidance (e.g. conducts regular individual and group meetings with peer facilitators to: provide guidance and support; troubleshoot or advise on questions or concerns related to planning or conducting facilitation sessions, or working with instructors;or issues about students in sessions)
- Keeping well-informed on the research, literature, theory, trends and best practices for post-secondary success

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Master’s Degree in Higher Education or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent and related experience in student support programming, preferably in a post-secondary environment
- Prior experience working with Facilitated Study Groups/Peer Support groups/Supplemental Instruction
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new programs and initiatives independently, preferably in a post-secondary environment
