**The role**. Reporting to the Controller and Mercer’s Director’s of Information Technology, this position is responsible for managing the Information Systems team which consists of a diverse group of information technology professionals as part of a global IT organization.. The Information Systems Superintendent services the Mill with all information system issues and concerns. Mercer has developed a global matrix IT organization with diverse and distributed centers of excellence across its global operations. This position is an integral part of that organization, acting as a crucial link between the Mercer Peace River operation and the global IT and wider business groups. This role is part of the #MercerConnected team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily information systems operations.
- Support Mercer’s cloud first IT/IS program.
- Develop and implement creative, effective solutions for the assurance of the availability of the information system.
- Implement and execute enterprise policy, process, standards, and guidelines relevant to information technology and information security.
- Conduct product research, specification, implementation, and maintenance.
- Work with Mercer’s global IT organization in continuous improvement activities.
- Manage information systems and services deployments, configuration, security, and monitoring.
- Meet with business stakeholders to identify requirements and work with the global IT team to meet specifications, costs and timelines.
- Work with Mill team members to understand and analyze their project business requirements and processes.
- Develop reports for various departments.
- Establish and implement policies and procedures for information systems.
- Manage the budget and costs of the Information Systems department.
- Perform and establish performance management evaluations for Information Systems team members.
- Additional duties, as required.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Post-Secondary education in a Computer Systems Technology area of study or equivalent experience.
- Project management experience, supported with formal project management qualifications would be beneficial.
- Experience in supporting enterprise resource planning systems. SAP S4/HANA experience would be considered an asset.
- Experience working with HP, Aruba, Cisco, Palo Alto networking, deploying Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office productivity suite, G-Suite, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Database servers, and VMWare and Citrix private cloud services.
- Experience in managing cloud-based productivity platforms, with specific experience in Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, as well as migrating and deploying workloads to public cloud platforms. Google Cloud Platform-specific experience would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with diverse stakeholders, accountabilities, and responsibilities and to juggle flexible timelines.
- Proven ability to collaborate within a globally dispersed team.
- Direct supervisory experience is required.
