Construction Superintendents are accountable and act as CNL’s field representative for non-independent construction sites. This key role includes planning and executing oversight of construction and installation activities to ensure they meet CNL’s expectations as per approved contracts. These SME’s provide projects with pre and onsite coordination, surveillance, oversight and progress monitoring of all activities required in accordance to various contract requirements, CNL policies and procedures. The various project scopes entail new build construction, upgrades, fabrications, demolitions, and system improvements. This field role is critical in ensuring CNL’s Construction Partners, their supervision and onsite trades staff are qualified to complete all fieldwork activities, and to ensure safety, contractual, (including financial requirements) are met and with various contracts.

The Construction Superintendent position is responsible for evaluating contract partners, performance assessments and overseeing Construction projects, providing project oversight to the Site Superintendent or General Contractor, who supervises the trades directly. Also included is value for money assessments on vendors and CNL Staff during the various phases of Contract Management.

The Construction Superintendent is also responsible for liaising with the CNL Client on project status and addressing any changes requested by clients that may impact the work plan and the anticipated delivery of the project.

**DUTIES**
The Construction Superintendent has the role of providing oversight, managing and coordinating field installation activities with contract partners and CNL projects teams performing construction activities on the CRL site and satellite locations and facilities. The Construction Superintendent oversees construction activities in accordance with the Construction, 900-505240-PDD-001, and its lower-tiered documents.

The Construction Superintendent will ensure that construction and installation activities are completed according to approved and validated design output documents and supplier’s shop drawings, and that these activities are carried out to meet all applicable technical, regulatory, and code requirements, as specified. The Individual consults and provides constructive input in the development and delivery of the project and throughout the phases of initiation, planning, execution, control and closeout. The Individual will ensure that the CNL standards for material selections, operating and maintenance functions are followed.

The following describes the duties of a Construction Superintendent, and how they pertain to external contractors and internal resources:

- Set, maintain and enforce workplace safety at all times by ensuring all field staff are using all required personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE&C) and key event prevention tools are in place.
- Ensure CNL’s environmental expectations are integrated into job task planning and are maintained at project job sites.
- Act as CNL Contract Representative (CCR) on behalf of the contract team for field activities and the associated Scope of Work (SOW) deliverables.
- Assist in preparation of contract documents and contractor selection. Ensure that all data pertaining to hazard issues such as asbestos and the rules on hiring contractors to perform such work at CRL is included.
- Assist the contract team in the development of work control requirements for external and internal resources needed to support the safe execution for the SOW.
- Act as field SME contributor with identifying the required CNL orientations/training courses needed for the SOW.
- Assist with identifying the required CNL security clearances for the SOW.
- Act as field SME contributor in identifying the contractors’ qualifications, certifications, and safety training records (QCSTR) needed for the SOW. Based on the project/contract’s Review Matrix (RMX) review and accept the applicable QCSTR related to the field work being performed and perform owner surveillance for continued compliance. (Note: acceptance of professional/technical qualification and certificates are exclude, for example, and engineers, inspector or from personnel performing tests associated design/technical specifications).
