**Position Overview**

As the Industrial Development Planning Analyst, you will play a crucial role in developing and leading projects to drive industrial economic growth and prosperity within the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Metropolitan Region. This multifaceted role involves strategic land use planning, project coordination and policy creation that will enhance the City of Edmonton’s economic position, promote sustainable development, and foster an environment conducive to job creation, industry attraction, business retention and sector expansion. By combining your expertise in industrial land development, data analysis, market research and project management the Industrial Development Planning Analyst will play a vital role in stimulating economic growth, generating employment opportunities, and promoting sustainable development in the region.

Through City Council’s 10 year strategic goal of Regional Prosperity, the City of Edmonton aims to be an active participant in regional innovation to build national and international opportunities that promote economic diversity, competitiveness, and increase our capacity for growth. The Industrial Development Planning Analyst position plays a critical supportive role in achieving this strategic goal by leveraging collaboration amongst regional partners to better position our region. This position will primarily focus on ensuring Edmonton's economic resiliency through the growth, expansion and diversification of Edmonton's industrial non-residential tax base, support in the refresh and integrated advancement of the City’s Industrial Investment Action Plan that aligns to the City Plan, and support ongoing planning and strategic initiatives across the City such as the Growth Management Framework, Edmonton’s Economic Action Plan, a Goods Movement Strategy and the City’s ongoing engagement in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.

Necessary job skills include adaptability, flexibility, creativity and an orientation to action and outcomes while delivering on the existing and emerging economic development challenges and opportunities.

In this position, the Industrial Development Planning Analyst will build and foster relationships with industry and industry organizations, as well as collaborate internally with other Branch leaders responsible for supporting industrial investment and building investment readiness. To support engagements with industry and industry events, this position will occasionally require working outside of regular working hours on an as-needed basis.

**As the Industrial Development Planning Analyst, you will be responsible for**:

- Leading the development and execution of comprehensive industrial development strategies aligned with the City of Edmonton's strategic goals and priorities
- Conducting thorough research and analysis of Edmonton target sectors, including energy, manufacturing, advanced technologies, logistics, medical, food processing and other related industries
- Leading the development and implementation of robust cross-corporation industrial-focused planning projects and policies
- Developing innovative approaches to increase the absorption of industrial lands, prioritizing new industrial development opportunities and formulating recommendations on how to improve our business processes and procedures
- Representing and providing advice on industrial investment interests and impacts to City Administration and City Council to ensure corporate alignment. This will include drafting and contributing to briefing notes, City Council reports, policies and strategies being advanced elsewhere in the corporation
- Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with existing industrial businesses, industry leaders, regional economic partners and key stakeholders
- Leading the implementation of the Industrial Investment Action Plan in alignment with the City Plan, the Energy Transition Plan and other strategic documents
- Undertaking regular reporting on the progress of the Industrial Investment Action Plan
- Communicating effectively and regularly with internal and external stakeholders about the City’s Industrial Investment Action Plan
- On a regular basis, ensuring that internal and external partners and stakeholders are identified and appropriately engaged
