With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

- Assist Urban Planning and Economy Department in strategic planning, aligning goals with corporate strategies
- Coordinate annual department business plan and branch action plans for clarity and alignment
- Translate strategies into operational plans for sections, ensuring integration with corporate planning
- Collaborate with operating areas, develop future action plans, and synthesize them for corporate business planning
- Develop tools/processes for the ongoing implementation of the Strategic Planning Framework
- Conduct environmental scanning to create reports on future trends to shape departmental direction
- Support departmental strategies and operations through objective surveys, data analysis, and reporting
- Contribute to Council and internal reports' drafting and development
- In partnership with Finance and Corporate Services Department, help facilitate the development of a four-year operating and capital budget, and ongoing oversight, including supplemental adjustments, developing targets, analyzing requests, working with sections to identify needs and costing and developing alternate funding strategies
- Support, where appropriate, the process for ensuring the Deputy City Manager's Office is well prepared for all Council deliberations on the operating and capital budget
- Perform other related duties and projects as required

**Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate degree in business, arts, or public administration or a related area; a graduate degree is an asset
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic and business planning, business analysis, or needs assessment preferably in a municipal government setting
- Skilled in research and analysis, with demonstrated ability to move from concept/theory to practical design and implementation
- Project management and process management skills are required
- Demonstrated ability to effectively gather, synthesize, integrate, and interpret multi-faceted information from a wide range of sources and perspectives
- Understanding and executing verbal and written instructions of an advanced nature and the ability to express complex ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively, both verbally and in written format
- Strategic thinker with proven ability to translate thinking to action and impact
- Skilled in critical thinking, consensus-building, and influencing
- Demonstrated ability to build strategic networks and partnerships with internal stakeholders
- Must be capable of working alone and be self-directed on tasks, while comfortable integrating with and successfully managing work teams on projects
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement
