We are recruiting for a Policy Analyst within the Policy and Legislation division of the Strategy, Performance and Partnerships Branch. This is your opportunity to have an impact on development and implementation of the Department’s health profession regulatory and oversight policy, including the 2023 Regulated Health Professions Act.

**About Our Opportunity**:
The Policy Analyst works within the Policy and Legislation Division’s as part of the team providing legislative, policy and best practice oversight of the regulated health professions. This position helps ensure public protection by monitoring health profession regulator performance and developing new tools and methods for regulator oversight, including providing project support to establish and then implement a new quality assurance program for regulator performance.

You will support as needed the migration of health profession regulators under the Regulated Health Professions Act and the related regulation development and stakeholder relations.

Your workplan will include policy research, strategic analysis, external stakeholder relations, meeting coordination, working group support and development of policy options related to health profession oversight, standards of good governance, data collection and equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation and accessibility initiatives. Development of cabinet submissions and briefing documents will also be a part of your work.
In this role, you play a critical role providing process-driven and evidence-informed decision-making to support senior leaders in the department. At times you will work closely with government colleagues on intersecting health profession initiatives, and may be required to join departmental/inter-branch working groups.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
Within a typical day you will be responsible for:

- Developing metrics and tools to assess health regulator performance, as well as supporting working groups and developing strategic analysis for the implementation of the tools.
- Liaising with the 21 provincial health profession regulators on the quality assurance program, emerging issues and government projects.
- Reviewing quality assurance reporting and researching best practices in health profession regulation and government oversight of regulators.
- Preparing information notes and correspondence for senior staff on a wide range of matters related to health profession regulation, in particular regulator performance.
- Working with internal and external partners to develop and evaluate policy options to make strategic recommendations with respect to health regulator performance, including, but not limited to, developing reports, briefing materials and submissions to Executive Council.
- Supporting the regulatory projects (research, stakeholder relations) required to migrate health regulators from existing legislation to the unified Regulated Health Professions Act.
- Monitoring the introduction and passage of legislation impacting on the health professions
- Drafting correspondence relating to information requests from the public, professional associations or community groups.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
As our next Policy Analyst, you will hold a bachelor's degree in social sciences, political science, law or a health-related field plus three (3) years of experience in the design, development, review and/or implementation of policies or programs (see acceptable Equivalencies below).

You will demonstrate experience with the following:

- Project coordination experience
- Superior writing skills with proven experience in report writing and preparation of briefing materials.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to build collaborative working relationships.
- Experience working with multiple internal and/or external stakeholders and advancing related priorities
- Knowledge of and/or experience within public policy development, analysis and/or implementation
- Computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Offi
