**Manager, Content**
United Way Greater Toronto is looking for a creative, innovative, and experienced Manager, Content to join our team at our Toronto office.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing Content & Production, the Manager, Content is responsible for providing editorial oversight, active management and execution of original, attention-grabbing content that is easy-to-read and emotionally rich, bringing the United Way brand to life for target audiences in multiple channels while meeting the strategic objectives of the content marketing strategy.
**What you’ll do**:
- Support the Senior Manager, Marketing Content & Production in the development and execution of the department’s annual strategic content plan
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to create and manage editorial calendar, leading weekly cross-departmental review meetings
- Provide leadership in the creative brief process for new projects initiated by internal departments and external stakeholders, working with the creative team to verbalize ideas, iron out concepts, solve creative issues through words, and nail the copy
- Provide additional writing and editing support for diverse cross-organizational projects, including donor stewardship, fundraising initiatives, community investments, special events and others as required
- Conduct annual story meetings with representatives from each department to brainstorm new content marketing and communications campaigns
- Experience conducting interviews with people from diverse backgrounds in order to develop storylines
- Maintain and enhance a content library that effectively tracks our key messages, specific terms, phrases, and establishes consistent style standards
- Directly manage and mentor a team of copywriters and freelancers, providing editorial strategy, oversight and editing expertise to deliver top-notch, audience-focused content
- Continuously strive to achieve new standards for content quality and creativity, staying informed about best practices, competitive landscape, and industry trends to identify key themes and messaging
**What you’ll need to be successful**:
- A love of community, with an interest in nurturing and building it and giving everyone in it a fair chance at a good life
- 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in marketing, journalism, fundraising, and/or advertising
- Post-secondary education in journalism, marketing, advertising/communications, or equivalent work-related experience
- Editorial mindset that seeks to understand what audiences want and how to give it to them
- A dual-minded approach: highly creative and an excellent writer but can also be process-driven, think scale, and rely on data to make decisions
- Familiarity with SEO, UI/UX, and analytics/optimization
- Committed, experienced people manager with an interest/experience in coaching and mentoring, and bringing organizational values to life every day
- Affection for messy problems, competing deadlines and creative solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative, innovative environment
- Thorough knowledge and commitment to the creative development process including briefing, ideation, evaluation of concepts and production techniques
- Willingness to actively lead the implementation of the organizational Reconciliation and Equity Plan through participation in learning opportunities and anti-oppressive, and anti-racist learnings into action internally and externally
- Ability to influence, negotiate and manage contentious issues to resolution
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and constituent service skills including the ability to work respectfully and inclusively with a diverse employee population and multiple stakeholders
