Job Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity for an organized and detail-oriented Receptionist to join our collaborative interdisciplinary team. We are looking for a professional who is a team player who has excellent interpersonal skills, works well under pressure, and is able to balance and successfully prioritize multiple duties.
**DUTIES**:
Carry out secretarial duties
1. Maintain a list of tasks assigned by the Medical Director, ensure follow-up on deliverables from the team members.
2. Transcribe dictation or rough notes from medical reports, correspondence, medical records, and patient information when required.
3. Proofread work for typographical and grammatical errors
4. Record, prepare and distribute agenda and minutes for meeting
5. Photocopy documents for distribution, mailing and filing
6. Process in-coming and out-going mail, manually and electronically
7. Send and receive messages and documents using fax machine and electronic mail
8. Familiarity with all aspect of the electronic medical record.
9. All other duties as required
Serve as the initial point of contact for patients and carry out all reception related duties
1. Answer and forward phone calls
2. Schedule and confirm patient appointments, receive, and communicate messages for medical staff and patients.
3. Register patients on arrival
4. interview patients to obtain information required for medical services
5. Maintain a list and follow-up with actionable deliverables assigned by the Medical Director
Responsible for collecting patient payments
1. Review payment record, identify outstanding charges, collect monies owing, prepare receipts
2. Complete insurance and other claim forms
3. Bill Alberta Health for insured services
Collate and manage the administration of patient charts
1. Initiate and maintain confidential medical charts and records on the EMR
2. Provide patients with their information enabling them to enter the patient portal.
3. Follow up on test results not yet received by calling the appropriate labs to have reports faxed if not in the AHS system.
4. Respond to requests for records, copy and send requests for release of information to the appropriate hospital or physician office.
5. Scan reports in patient charts on EMR
6. Retrieve files for up-coming clinic visits
**QUALIFICATIONS**
1. Completion of a recognized medical secretarial program (preferred)
2. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
3. Typing speed or 60 words per minutes
4. Three years previous work experience in a similar role
5. Excellent organizational skills essential
6. Proficient in Microsoft word
7. Demonstrated initiative, accuracy and the ability to work independently.
8. Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
**Job Type**: Casual
Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 - 37.5 per week
