Volunteer Engagement and Event Coordinator

**Position Overview**:
United Way is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and organized individual to join our team as a **Volunteer Engagement and Event Coordinator**. In this key role, you will have the opportunity to foster a strong volunteer network and organize impactful community events that directly support our mission to improve lives and build a stronger, more resilient community. You will play an integral part in recruiting, and managing volunteers, as well as assisting with the planning, promotion, and execution of fundraising and community engagement events. Additionally, you will support social media communications and work to enhance our fundraising efforts, including through sponsorships.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination**:
- Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers to support United Way’s Senior Meals program and various United Way events when necessary.
- Maintain communication with volunteers, ensuring they are informed, engaged, and supported.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules and ensure that volunteer resources are effectively utilized.
- **Event Planning & Execution**:
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising events, community engagement activities, and volunteer initiatives.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, and attendee management.
- Provide support during events, including overseeing volunteers and ensuring event goals are met.
- Working with and supporting event committees when needed.
- **Social Media & Communications**:
- Support the creation and execution of social media campaigns to promote events and engage with the community.
- Develop content for social media platforms to keep volunteers, sponsors, and community members informed and engaged.
- Assist with regular updates and communication to volunteers, partners, and donors.
- **Fundraising & Sponsorship Support**:
- Collaborate with the fundraising team to support sponsorship efforts, including identifying potential sponsors and assisting in the creation of sponsorship packages.
- Support fundraising efforts by maintaining strong relationships with current and potential donors and sponsors.
- **Administrative Support**:
- Provide general administrative support to the team, including data entry, scheduling, event reporting, and maintaining volunteer records.
- Assist in maintaining and organizing volunteer and event materials and resources.
**Qualifications**:
- **Experience**:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in volunteer coordination, event planning, or a similar role.
- Experience with social media communications and fundraising activities is preferred.
- **Skills**:
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Experience with event management software and volunteer tracking platforms is a plus.
