**About Our Newcomer Youth Services**
For 4 years our newcomer youth services has been creating opportunities for newcomer youth serving more than 2000 youth with excellent integration programming and leading the innovation of newcomer youth services in our region.
Our team provides strategic support for the successful social, cultural, and economical integration of our newcomer members including opportunities for advocacy, community exploration, entrepreneurship, product development, prototyping, branding and job readiness. Our program also alleviates the transition of newcomer youth to a new school system and generates a successful environment for self-confidence, teamwork and creation.
In addition, we provide weekly training sessions for youth regarding anti-racism, anti-discrimination, and emotional mapping through art design, animation, technology and sport. In addition, we empower our youth to produce yearly anti-racism initiatives, and host quarterly racial bias family conversations workshops and sessions. Our team plans, organizes and hosts multicultural events and celebrations, and outdoor culture discovery field trips and activities.
We work towards building key partnerships in our region to organize outreach events in exciting places, go on field trips, meet with leaders in our community and amplify our youths' voices with podcasting.
**Purpose of Position**:
To demonstrate leadership and supervision for programs and events are offered by our newcomer youth services departments. The Coordinator will be responsible for planning and executing the programs and events offered. In addition, the coordinator will be responsible for recruiting youth and facilitators for the programs. Also, the coordinator must be able to build professional relationships with our partners, community leaders, facilitators, parents, and youth.
To be actively involved with the Program Monitor, Project Manager and Director of Programs for the planning, recruitment, and executing of our contracts.
To have understanding of different cultures including the indigenous and Acadian cultures. In addition, to be Passionate about discovering other cultures in terms of traditions, values, food, and many more.
To be able to handle basic financial procedures such as handling receipts and data entry. In addition, the coordinator must demonstrate a willingness to learn new data reporting tools.
To create and submit reports, budgets and forecasts for the events and workshops planned to meet the grants and contracts expectations in a timely manner when requested or needed.
**Specific Responsibilities**
- Ability to work in a team while planning, organizing and executing workshops, events, and celebrations.
- Plan programming according to contracts and budget with keeping in mind our youth's best interests.
- Approval of plan will be given by Director no longer than 3 weeks prior to event
- Develop year Calendar
- Approval of the calendar will be given by the Director not longer than 2 weeks prior to the event.
- Detail events in an agenda (time, place, schedule per hour)
- Approval of agenda will be given by Director no longer than 48 hours prior to event
- Supervising and ensuring safety of our youth during the workshops and event
- Follow the organization policies and procedures.
- Coordinate logistics accordingly, including transportation of clients
- Oversee day-to-day operations of programs and determines priorities
- Input and submit all invoices and receipts on a weekly basis
- Work with Program Manager and Program Director to determine department’s marketing and advertising needs
- Report clients and activities in Icare (IRCC Reporting platform) monthly.
- Take pictures during events and workshops following consent authorisation
- Ensure availability of needed materials and supplies for each workshop/ event and also ensure the organization of the materials and supplies.
- Complies with policies and procedures governing the program and ensures that the program is operating at maximum efficiency
- Participate in community events
- Participate in weekly meetings with program Manager and Director
- Manage and maintain client files in an organized and confidential manner
- Support other coordinators and departments when needed.
- Anticipate and keep track of all cost for supplies, services, rentals, and facilitators
