University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Cancer Program Quality Improvement Specialist in our Cancer Quality Program.

As member of the Cancer Care Quality and Innovation Program the Quality and Implementation Specialist will be the ambassador for quality improvement and implementation science and will be the pivotal Lead for the following accountabilities:

- To advance the Cancer Program Quality strategy with enhanced infrastructure, data and advancement of quality improvement projects
- To assist in the selection, analysis and reporting of quality-related performance indicators to monitor the program, and/or unit level performance to ensure alignment with strategic direction. Some of these indicators will be incorporated into UHN/PM Safety Scorecard and UHN’s annual Quality Improvement Plan
- To manage several projects and initiatives designed to promote quality improvement on a program-wide and local, patient care unit scale
- To support building the quality and safety infrastructure with role clarity and enhanced competency building; enhancing the safety culture
- To complete quality audits, observations and chart reviews to identify issues and facilitate audit and feedback and change in practice
- To support the safety huddles and to help with QI based on trends in the safety huddles
- To provide mentorship, leadership, guidance, and planning for quality initiatives through advocating for clinical standardization
- To support a quality competition/fellowship to help guide and mentor other staff in large scale quality improvement initiatives
- To support safety event reporting, analysis identification of trends and actioning of recommendations; to share learnings from safety events
- To work with the CQIN Program Manager, Clinic/Unit Managers and Patient Safety Specialists to integrate clinical best practices, legislative requirements and policies into quality priorities
- To participate in the relevant Committees and administrative tasks to advance quality improvement within the Program; preparation of QI Project Charters
- To work with other Quality leads within other Departments to set a consistent standard for quality and safety

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of a Bachelors degree
- Minimum of 6-8 years practical and related experience in the healthcare field
- Previous experience in quality, safety and performance improvement methods is required
- Experience leading Quality Improvement initiatives within healthcare is required
- Ability to mentor and coach others on the quality improvement methodologies for successful outcomes
- Experience working with physicians and other clinicians is required
- Project management experience strongly recommended
- Project planning, with QI project charters and Implementation experience required
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating a major change initiative in a health care
