The Executive Assistant, Research and Education contributes to the Students Rights Centre’s activities by providing administrative support, elaborating educational programs for students and by completing research that advances the Centre’s mandate and its case work.

**Responsibilities**
- Administration_
- Act as front-line staff for the Centre, welcome clients, operate a triage system and refer clients to the appropriate Student Rights Advocate, book clients and manage the Centre’s calendar;
- Act as a liaison with various UOttawa administration offices such as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Office;
- Minute taking: Take all minutes from weekly meetings, meetings with other offices/departments and All Service Meetings when the SRC Director cannot attend;
- Complete data base entry for all client files and ensure up-to-date data is available at all times;
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the Centre including supply orders, managing the physical space, managing mail, etc.;
- Represent the Centre at UOSU meetings such as the All Services Meetings;
- Perform other related duties.
- Education_
- Create and deliver educational initiatives related to the Centre’s expertise with the goal of providing valuable skills and/or knowledge to the student population;
- Maintain the Centre’s social media accounts and ensure website is functional and up-to-date;
- Create posts for social media (Instagram and Facebook);
- Coordinate and market the planning of educational campaigns and events such as the Diversity and Accessibility Conference (DAC) and the Know Your Rights Workshops;
- Represent the Centre at all outreach opportunities such as tabling/kiosk during 101 Week;
- Perform other related duties.
- Research_
- Conduct research into systemic issues relevant to the Centre or as requested by SRC director;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the University of Ottawa academic and administrative regulations and develop a workable understanding of the appeals processes available to students on campus;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights system and legislation;
- Meet with Student Advocates on a regular basis to ensure familiarity with systemic barriers presented through case work;
- Assist the Director on special projects such as public reports, direct action etc.;
- Perform other related duties.

**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate studies diploma in a related field;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English, bilingualism is a requirement;
- Knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, related legislation and University of Ottawa policies and procedures an important asset;
- Strong commitment to student rights and a clear understanding of the asymmetry of power facing university students;
- Experience conducting research;
- Experience with event and/or special project creation, development and implementation;
- Experience developing campaigns and/or educational initiatives an asset;
- Awareness of equity issues affecting university students;
- Very strong interpersonal skills and ability to demonstrate a professional attitude;
- Ability to show attention to detail;
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and creativity;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to work independently and consult appropriately when needed;
- Ability to network and establish fruitful collaborations and partnerships;
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training an asset.
- Knowledge of the UOSU, its services, clubs, associations and activities is an asset.
