**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Communications, the Communications Officer (Digital Strategies) provides strategic communications and marketing advice, with a focus on digital strategies and solutions for the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs (FPGA).

The Communications Officer is responsible for planning, developing, and producing integrated and targeted digital communications campaigns to support the Faculty’s strategic goals by promoting and strengthening engagement with prospective and current students, faculty, staff, internal stakeholders, alumni and community partners.

The incumbent acts as the strategic digital communications resource for the Office of the Dean and all units within our Faculty. With leadership from the Dean and Manager, working collaboratively with the communication team members, the Communications Officer provides strategic recommendations to Chairs and Directors and guidance and training to the communications members in the FPGA units to help build consistency and the FPGA brand.

The Communications Officer coordinates the customer relationship management (CRM) system to plan for and analyze the campaigns being used. It is critical that we reach the appropriate audiences to convey our many strengths, our unique and successful programs, and the amazing quality of our researchers and teachers. The incumbent writes and proofreads content for a variety of stories, social media, promotional and marketing materials to help promote and engage our targeted audiences, both internal and external. The Officer is also responsible for supervising the Student Content Creator team, who support the communications strategy for the Faculty and Units.

The incumbent ensures the faculty is maintaining graphic and communication standards; it is essential that all communications materials are produced with the highest standards and convey consistent messaging, accuracy of information, quality of presentation and a common visual identity given their importance for the Faculty’s and University’s reputation
with internal and external stakeholders.

**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

- In-depth experience in developing branding, advertising and marketing campaigns;
- Expertise designing, developing and implementing digital communication strategies and campaigns, with an emphasis on electronic and social platforms;
- Significant experience in websites and social media in terms of content creation, maintenance and monitoring, including in-depth technical back-end knowledge of Web design and editing;
- Demonstrated understanding of how best to communicate on the web and in social media utilizing text, infographics, pictures and video;
- In-depth experience evaluating technologies and digital communications initiatives and campaigns, including experience developing and implementing CRMs;
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills are required;
- Experience supervising or leading a part-time staff team;
- Proven ability to develop, create, write and edit working to strict and frequent deadlines;
- Strong time management, with excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, while paying strict attention to detail;
- Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism, tact and diplomacy; with the demonstrated ability to remain calm and with a professional demeanor while working under pressure;
- Strong research, problem-solving skills, creative thinking skills, as well as initiative;
- Strong knowledge of the University’s culture, institutional and Faculty goals and objectives is highly desired.

**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

- University honours degree in journalism, communications, marketing or English.
- Five years of related communications, marketing and digital content creation experience, preferably in an educational setting.
- Experience must include at least three years of creating digital campaigns, capturing and editing photography and videography and conducting analysis for the development of digital communication strategies for targeted engagement.
