**Key Responsibilities**
- Month-end Close: coordinate and complete journal entries by synthesizing and analyzing financial information required for delivery of accurate, timely, and complete financial statements and management reports.
- Monthly financial reporting: complete monthly financial reporting packages with variance analyses to provide to the Executive Team. Financial reporting must be internally consistent and accurately reflect business and departmental results and KPIs in a timely manner. Liaise with functional department managers for explanations on expense variances and forecast changes.
- Management reporting: compile regular and ad hoc management reports as required and review information to ensure accuracy and internal consistency.
- Inventory Management, Cost of Goods Sold, Operating Expense and Product Profitability: calculate, analyze and utilize your knowledge preferably from a Manufacturing or Consumer Goods background, to monitor product profitability and forecast the impact on business results reported to Management.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: In conjunction with departmental Managers, prepare annual business and departmental budgets, and quarterly forecasts.
- Inventory Management: take ownership of inventory reporting and processes including tracking, analyzing, reconciling, and reporting with the aim of capturing accurate financial information and minimizing unexpected variances from initial estimates.
- Accounting Oversight: provide day-to-day oversight of and leadership to the Accounting department, including maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures on a timely basis.
- Represent Finance on various inter-departmental committees.
- This role is also required to support Special Projects.
- Such further and other tasks as may be required from time to time.
**Qualification & Skills**
- Experience in managing a team
- Thorough understanding of GAAP and Canadian ASPE
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality
- Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity
- Demonstrated experience in project management with proven ability to lead projects forward and effectively leverage available resources to drive results
- PC proficiency: Strong Microsoft suite skills, with exceptional skills in Excel
- Excellent fluent English language skills (speaking, reading, writing)
**Education & Experience**:
- CPA required
- BA or BS in Accounting or Finance
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 2-4 years in financial leadership role
- NetSuite or other large ERP system experience preferred
