**Position**

The Research Analyst works under the supervision of the PI, Dr. Darren Lau, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine.

This position will assist Dr. Lau in his research, which includes biostatistical data analyses and programming, including those for large cohort studies in patients with diabetes. Dr. Lau’s work also includes the development and evaluation of clinical innovations related to diabetes care. The Research Analyst will be asked to take a generalist role, with main responsibilities to include:
1) Performing statistical analyses, including programming and statistical procedures required to analyze large cohort datasets,

2) Assisting with execution of on-going projects, and

3) Assisting with grant writing, literature review, and report submission.

**Duties**
- Statistical programming and analyses (50%) The applicant will:_
- Design appropriate statistical analysis plans under the supervision of Dr. Lau.
- Independently merge and clean information from large databases.
- Perform statistical analyses, including bivariate analyses, as well as regression analyses and survival analysis.
- Document analyses by generating replicable programs in STATA or SAS.
- Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation by providing tables, graphs, and methods text, and reviewing / commenting on drafts.
- Provide support to trainees (e.g.: internal medicine residents), as needed.
- General research assistance including trial participant recruitment and research coordination (50%)_
- Perform baseline and follow-up visits related to trial participants.
- Review data entry and correct deficiencies in RedCap databases; training provided if required.
- Prepare meeting agendas, and written research reports.
- Maintain effective communication with members of the project team.
- Assist with grant writing, as needed.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- An MSc degree in clinical epidemiology, epidemiology, or biostatistics.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Though 1-2 years of post-graduate work experience is an asset, it is not a requirement.
- Previous experience working with large datasets, preferably derived from administrative health care data.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
