Help contribute to Edmonton’s livability. Support the work of the Community Standards Branch and its various Officers through call evaluation, dispatch and coordination of work assignments. The Peace Officer Section is seeking self-motivated individuals who can provide a high level of customer service. With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

- Evaluate calls, dispatch and coordinate jobs/assignments to enforcement staff including Community Standards Peace Officers, Municipal Enforcement Officers, Park Rangers, Animal Control Officers, Commercial Vehicle Unit, and the Vehicle for Hire Unit
- Screen, evaluate, record telephone inquiries and create dispatch records. When appropriate, forward information to enforcement officers for action
- Interpret and explain department regulations and procedures to the general public
- Generate correspondence related to regulatory offenses, including the collection of witness statement forms
- Assist with collecting legal documentation, statistics and records
- Enter notes, comments and information into a database for officer support when investigating complaints (Microsoft Access, Google or POSSE)
- Keep abreast of changes to regulations and procedures while working in conjunction with uniformed and non-uniformed enforcement officers
- Support officers in the field with officer safety protocols, emergency preparedness, managing GPS, closed circuit television (CCTV) and other safety programs such as C-CURE Alarm Monitoring
- Help provide information such as complaint details, owner and/or property information, and officer safety warnings for officers to use in the field
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and other agencies as required
- Assist with 311 scripting and requisite updates as required
- Communicate effectively with members of the public, stakeholders, and enforcement officers
- Provide education and information to callers based on bylaws and other regulatory inquiries
- Perform other related duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of High School or equivalent; certificate or diploma in Emergency Communications and Response is an asset
- 5 years experience in a customer-centric service role supplemented with business experience, including a minimum of 2 years related and relevant dispatch experience
- Experience interpreting and explaining legislation, regulations and/or bylaws, related policies and procedures is required
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Google Workplace, SAP/CRM, and POSSE
- Radio Dispatch training is an asset
- Knowledge of or training in anti-racism, Indigenous awareness and GBA+ would be considered an asset
- Ability to make sound decisions independently according to policies and procedures
- Ability to deal with difficult conversations and emergent situations
- Strong ability to handle a high volume of work under time constraints
- Excellent customer service and teamwork skills with a flexibility in performing diverse activities
- Excellent communication, organization, and prioritization skills are required
- Knowledge of applicable City of Edmonton bylaws and applicable Provincial legislation
- Possession of current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid from a Government approved first aid provider
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

**_ Up to 3 permanent full-time positions available_**

**Hours of Work**:40 hours per week, variable shifts. Evening and weekend availability is required.

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

**Salary**:$25.448 - $31.909 (Hourly); $53,135.420 - $66,625.990 (Annually)
