**Job Details**:
**Position Title**: Student Support Advisor
**Status**: Temporary Part-Time Support
**Hours**:**24 per week
**Faculty/Department**: Community Outreach Workforce Development
**Campus/Location**:**North Campus
**Salary**:$19.09/hour

**About the Student Support Advisor Role**:
Reporting to the Manager, Community and Partnership Development the Student Support Advisor provides academic pathways advising to community learners and students involved in the Youth Transition Program (YTP) who are looking to make a successful transition to post-secondary studies. The incumbent will work with students to understand their individual needs and recommend best course of action that is supportive of student success and will enable students to meet entry requirements. In addition, the incumbent will guide students on academic regulations, assist with registration challenges, monitor student progress and serve as a resource for information. Participation in department wide student support initiatives, recruitment events on and off campus and meetings with other Advisors and Program Coordinators on a regular basis is also required. This role will primarily work out of the North campus, however occasional travel offsite and between Humber’s three campuses will be required. The Student Support Advisor will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends.

**Education**
- A minimum of three years’ experience assessing and advising clients in an educational or social and community services environment is required.

**Experience/Skills**
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure with mínimal supervision
- Ability to exercise good judgement, work in a team environment and resolve conflicts
- Demonstrated use of initiative both in planning of work and in taking a pro-active approach to addressing student concerns
- Practical experience in a service environment that includes some financial transactions
- Consistent attention to detail
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks, interruptions and deadlines
- Basic knowledge of Learning Management Systems, medium proficiency with Microsoft Access and databases would be an asset
