**Service Design / User Research Expert**

**The Opportunity**

The anticipated term of this opportunity is from an available **start date of January 2, 2025 **for up to 3 months.

**Project Context**

The BC Government is seeking qualified vendor-provided resources to support Business Communication Solutions (BCS) Branch, the Media Monitoring and Insights (MMI) solution, and the modernization one of the Province’s Web platforms. These resources will address the recommendations and observations of an external review, implementing modern development practices, and improving usability and sustainability.

**Background**

Resources should have the ability to bring innovative approaches to solve problems related to legacy systems and offer solutions that adhere to modern software development practices (e.g., cloud-native, microservices architecture). Vendors must demonstrate the capacity to provide adequate staffing to meet timelines and milestones; and the ability to scale resources up or down based on the project’s needs.

**Consultant Qualifications**

The Service Design / User Research Expert is required to have the following skills and experience:
1. The Service Design and User Research Expert will support the creation of a user-centered design by conducting in-depth user research and usability testing, helping to align with user needs, preferences and core team.

In addition to the skills and experience set out above, the Proponents should demonstrate that the proposed Consultant(s) have the following additional skills and experience:

**Experience**:

- At least 5 - 10 years of experience in service design, user research, or UX within large-scale digital projects, preferably in the public sector.

**Technical Expertise**:

- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
- Skilled in using UX and research tools like Figma, Adobe XD, User Testing, or Optimal Workshop for prototyping and testing.
- Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and principles of user-centered design to enhance inclusivity in the digital space.

**Skills**:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting user data and translating findings into actionable design insights.
- Excellent communication skills to present findings and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and stakeholders.

**Certifications (optionally)**: UX Design Certification (Nielsen Norman Group or equivalent), Human Centered Design (HCD), or Certified Usability Analyst (CUA).

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: Up to $80.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
