Edmonton, Canada Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation Full time

The Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation is a not-for-profit public agency of the Government of Alberta that guarantees deposits and provides
risk-based regulatory oversight to enable a safe and sound credit union system in Alberta. Our primary roles include:

- Providing a 100% guarantee of deposits held with Alberta credit unions***
- Regulating credit unions and enforcing the Credit Union Act

- Revising, advising and directing credit unions on sound business practices
- ****:

- Monitoring credit union performance and implementing appropriate actions to improve performance and reduce risks- Establishing individual credit union loan approval limits and providing an appropriate adjudication process for loans that exceed these limits

This position reports to the Vice President, Business Services and Regulatory Practices (BSRP) and is responsible for regulatory practices (RP), enterprise
risk management (ERM), business intelligence tools & models, credit union regulatory reporting requirements, financial & economic analysis’ impact on
the credit union system and assisting the VP in the strategic planning process. Additionally, the Assistant Vice President, Planning, Analytics and
Regulatory Practices (PARP) supervises the work of five (5) Managers and contributes as part of the management team.

**THE POSITION**
**Regulatory Practices (RP)**:
Lead, Coordinate and Deliver on the following key mandates of regulatory practices:

- Updating and maintenance of standards of sound business and financial practices;
- Development and issuance of communications to credit unions including guidance, model policies, etc.
- Updating and maintaining the regulatory framework, process and assessment criteria documentation
- Legislation and regulatory standards monitoring and recommendations.

**Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)**:

- Manage the Corporation’s enterprise risks register and coordinate with individual risk owners to ensure periodical review and corrective actions
- are completed and documented.- Compile periodical ERM reports for Executive and Board review
- Integrate ERM into the strategic planning process

**Business Analysis and Regulatory Reporting**:

- Oversee and provide direction to the Corporation’s quantitative regulatory filings required of Alberta credit unions.- Resolve issues of non-compliance with regulatory filings requirements.
- Oversee the business analysis functions specifically in relation to the Corporation’s Credit Union Business Intelligence system (CUBI).

**Financial and Economic Analysis;**:

- Oversee and direct the financial and economic analysis function, which includes a range of activities such as data analysis and researching and
- interpreting trends- Review, provide inputs and recommend for approval, key reports produced by the financial and economic analysis function
- Oversee the development of analytical models and tools as part of the Corporation’s business intelligence toolkit.

**Strategic Planning**
Support the Vice President BSRP in the Corporation’s strategic planning process. This includes:

- Coordinating the Board’s Planning Session(s) including backgrounders, SWOT Analysis, scanning of environmental factors and finalizing Board’s

planning session package.
- Developing the business plan and championing the same through the approval process and submission to Government of Alberta.
- Report progress and performance under the Business Plan, contribute to creating and tracking department’s budget, provide facilitation to other

departments as required.
**Leadership, Coaching & Mentoring**
- Contribute to discussions at Management meetings and in the IM-IT Steering Committee
- Provide leadership and coaching to the PARP team of five managers by establishing performance standards, conducting performance reviews,
- and identifying training and development opportunities for the business unit, to contribute to the attainment of department goals- Manage needs and realistic expectations of external stakeholders for timely and accurate exchange of information

**THE PERSON**:

- University degree in business or in a finance related field.- Professional Qualification in Risk Management (FRM or PRM), Accounting (CPA) or financial and investment analysis (CFA)
- Proven experience in strategic planning including financial budgeting.
- Proven experience in regulatory oversight of financial institutions or in a financial institution dealing with the regulator.
- Proven experience in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
- Proven experience in Data analytics, model development, Cybersecurity knowledge and experience.
- Proven experience in IT governance and risk management
