The opportunity

The AVP, Project Management Office (PMO) Program Management is a key role in the PMO leadership team. This role reports to the Sr. AVP, PMO and provides program management and oversight support for assigned programs and projects across the CWB Financial Group.

The AVP, PMO Program Management is also responsible for direct management and oversight of assigned PMO team members (Sr. Project Managers, Project Managers, Sr. Project Coordinators, and contract resources). This role is also a key partner of other delivery groups at CWB, such as Finance, Information Services, Customer and Process Excellence (CAPE), and People First Teams.

Day-to-day activities

Lead PMO Programs- Effectively demonstrate value-add program/project management that is aligned with the PMO PDLC (Project Delivery Life Cycle) framework practices to ensure all project scope, risks, quality metrics, schedules, and benefits are holistically managed with alignment of the Executive Sponsor, Project Owner, and applicable Program/Project Steering Committee;- Ensure continued program/project alignment with the CWB Financial Group strategic plan and objectives;- Maintain continuous learning that enhances the knowledge, skills and abilities required to provide effective program and project governance and management activities;- Continuously monitor "best practices" for program/project management frameworks, processes, tools, and templates and foster a continuous team driven approach to planning and implementing agreed changes. This includes effective right-sized designs to achieve desired outcomes and alignment of supporting implementation and delivery methodologies with the PMO PDLC.- Ensure client and user impacts are validated throughout the PMO Project Delivery Life Cycle (PDLC) framework, including delivery and enablement of defined benefits;- Provide effective management for the PMO program/project budgets assigned, including estimation, vendor invoice management, budget tracking/adjustments, and final program delivery within the agreed budget. This includes working closely with Finance to align PMO Project budget definition and management processes.- Continuous review and setup of action plans related to opportunities to improve program cost savings, reduce rework, and effectively use resources assigned to programs/projects;- Performs other such roles and duties as may be required by the Sr. AVP, PMO in supporting the PMO function.

Leadership and Coaching- Direct management and leadership oversight of PMO Practice team members; including Senior Project Management, Project Management, Sr. Project Coordinator, and PMO contractors;- Deliver effective hiring, talent development, performance management and reward processes and programs across areas of responsibility that positively impact attraction, motivation, engagement and retention of best-in-class talent;- Provide responsive, positive and constructive leadership coaching, mentorship and direction to all employees in assigned area of responsibility;- Ensure effective allocation and utilization of team members in support of planned project work;-
