The opportunity

The AVP, Portfolio Optimization contributes to the overall success of the Business Banking and Personal Banking portfolios in Canada and is accountable for driving actionable campaigns. This position will steer product insights to grow and optimize business and personal banking portfolios, and to improve the decisions and margins of the Bank.

Reporting to the VP, Analytics, this position is responsible for supporting CWB’s Product and Marketing teams with the development and enhancement of product optimization insights and tools, reports and dashboards to facilitate earnings growth, new client acquisition and deepening of client relationships and referrals. They will also drive robust campaign designs and analysis, and support marketing to optimize campaign return on investment and improve decisioning.

Working closely with multiple business partners, the successful incumbent will ensure annual business goals are met, and plans are coordinated, implemented, and delivered in support of the Bank’s overall business strategy.

What you’ll be doing

Advanced Analytics. Campaign Analytics. Innovation. Collaboration.- Effectively translate business challenges into analytic opportunities and design statistical solutions to ultimately optimize strategy decisions.- Collaborate with marketing partners to design, implement, and measure high impact multi-channel personal and business campaigns. Continuously working to drive maximum marketing return on investment and improvement in client margins.- Conduct post campaign deep dives and drive actions to evolve the entire campaign process to improve efficiency, consistency and reduce errors.- Research and partner with vendors to stay up to date with new methodology and technology capabilities.- Support valuable voice of the client insights in the form of analysis, interpretation and advice to key collaborators and channel partners to improve NPS scores and client value propositions.- Develop innovative approaches to promote new insights and foster creative thinking in an environment that supports continuous improvement and process efficiencies- Partner and align interest with all key partners across the broader analytics team, finance, operations, product, sales effectiveness, digital, marketing, technology- Champion a client focused habit and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge- Build a high-performance, results-focused team and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates employees by fostering an inclusive work environment- Responsible for the team’s daily functions to ensure timely responses to business inquiries, resolution of issues, and compliance

Successful incumbent

Experience & Education- Degree in Economics, Business, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance or Statistics- Master’s degree in Analytics or MBA Preferred- Ten (10) or more years of demonstrated experience in analytics, finance, sales data management- Five (5) or more years of proven experience leading large teams- Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis and modelling, big data environments, and relational database structures- Experience in Banking and/or Financial Services industry- Experience driving new sales acquisition and marketing campaign strategies using data analysis

Skills & Abilities- Solid understanding of SAS, SQL, Python, PowerBI, Tableau and very good understanding of data models-
- Proven ability to explain sophisticated data and present data driven insights to senior leadership- Proven track record of building impactful, collaborative teams- Shown ability to run and lead several complex programs and processes across multiple partners and departments- Excellent collaboration skills, to build constructive, supported solutions often in the absence of direct decision authority.- Thorough understanding of banking products and concepts with a comprehensive commercial mentality- Excellent planning and critical thinking skills, with solid understanding of P/L levers- Validated ability building credibility with senior leadership teams as wel
