**Position summary**

The position provides administrative support to the Faculty of Native Studies (FNS) and Senior Leadership on community engagement initiatives and programming. The position reports to the Vice-Dean of the Faculty.

Indigenous community organizations. As an FNS point of contact for community members and alumni, the coordinator will also connect community members with researchers, instructors, and administrative staff to support the development of new initiatives and collaborations. Their Indigenous cultural knowledge will be a key component of this development and these relationships.

**Duties**

Community Relations & Community Engagement
- Work with Communications Associate to engage alumni stories, Connections; Part of the team building/revising/updating the structural racism module to include current content[MOU1] Work with the Advancement Officer to coordinate community outreach for programs in the Faculty; Speakers
- the Assist. Dean. Advancement on community relations & engagement initiatives for the Faculty, specific ties to Indigenous Communities tied to the Faculty of Native Studies
- Work with current Faculty, Student & Staff to start a database of communities FNS has ties with; document communities visited, and type of engagement activity
- Engage youth activities - coordinate workshops (i.e. beading, regalia making) and other outreach activities
- Deliver outreach events and ensure Faculty community engagement informed and driven by the community
- Monthly reporting of engagement activities
- Monitors and verifies enrolment numbers for individual courses

Alumni Affairs
- Work with Alumni Relations Office, to continue to update database of alumni in Native Studies, to connect alumni, plan special events, for alumni (i.e. socials, roundance, tea and bannock, fund raisers)
- Engage current students, seniors & juniors, planning events, socials, keep in contact with FNS
- Plan and coordinate Alumni Weekend with input from Faculty, Staff, & Alumni Affairs Office

Communications
- Acts as the first point of contact for a program or service.
- Responds to specific inquiries about FNS programs from students, faculty, and staff. Provides information on aspects of an academic program to current students (e.g. course inquiries)
- Screens, directs, and processes phone, electronic and in person queries
- Maintains websites, blogs, or other social media devices. Creates new web pages when required. Updates information/ data within the content management system

Document/Materials Development
- Proofreads and reformats documents.
- Assists with development, design, and production of publications on program(s) in accordance with established Faculty/ College/ University policies/procedures

Program Operations
- Provides administrative support for off-campus courses and field trips[MOU1]
- Creates and maintains spreadsheets and/or databases. Prepares standard and ad hoc reports on program(s). Designs and develops customized reports for specific needs
- Maintains area/ program records
- Organizes meetings, conferences, seminars and special events on behalf of the FNS program(s).
- Coordinates travel arrangements for supervisor and others when travelling for FNS program business or for recruitment purposes
- Provides administrative support for standing and special meetings. Coordinates documents and agendas. Anticipates and prepares supporting materials. Distributes meeting minutes
