**Director, Business Development**

The Director, Business Development, reporting directly to the COO, is responsible for directing all business development activities of the CGLCC, along with expanding the CGLCC’s brand presence in the business community. The role is proactive and ensures consistent and regular outreach activities and communications, while driving revenue growth for CGLCC. Interested parties include, but are not limited to: corporate partners, the Canadian business community, regional chamber affiliates, Supplier Diversity industry partners, media, and government. The role’s purpose is to:

- Plan and direct CGLCC’s overall growth and expansion, targeted towards creating new business opportunities and partnerships;
- Formulate the business development strategy, which aligns with CGLCC’s strategy;
- Direct and supervise all business development activities to meet revenue targets, from forecasting and budgeting to the production and execution of business plans, which align to CGLCC’s strategic priorities and inform the Chamber’s business development operations;
- Lead and develop an internal team of business development managers who develop and implement strategies in their respective areas to achieve CGLCC’s outreach and revenue goals.

**CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES**

**Business Development**

The Director, Business Development provides oversight for CGLCC’s entire range of business development activities, from developing strategies to create new business opportunities and partnerships, to acquire new partners and members, achieving or exceeding revenue goals and growing the CGLCC brand presence. Specific duties include, but not limited to:

- Develop and execute the business development plan to increase partner participation and revenue;
- Identify, evaluate and execute new business and partnership opportunities aligned with the CGLCC’s strategic direction;
- Lead the recruitment, onboarding and transition to membership servicess with applicable partners on business development efforts, as required;
- Attend and actively engage in meetings, events and conferences to promote CGLCC programs and initiatives;
- Conduct and provide updates on the progress of business development initiatives against set strategic objectives;
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure CGLCC is fully compliant with regulatory requirements related to the marketing of products and services;
- Monitor the CGLCC brand visibility and marketing progress against set strategic objectives;
- Develop strategies for membership and partner lead generation, monitoring and conversion, including reports showing lead generation success and failure rates;
- Mobilize internal CGLCC team members to support new and current business development initiatives, e.g. fulfillment of programming sold;
- Research partner & prospect needs and trends and use the information to inform the business, product and service development strategies;
- Act as an advisor to the whole organization on matters related to business development; and,
- Directly respond, solve and provide advice to daily operational and administrative issues related to business development.

**Managing Relationships**

The Director, Business Development builds and manages working relationships with CGLCC’s internal and external partners, helping these partners accomplish their program objectives and contribute to CGLCC’s strategic goals.
- Build and maintain open and effective communication with external prospects and ecosystem partners before, during and after key business development activities, ensuring satisfaction and retention and generating business opportunities;
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal partners in the execution of business development activities and initiatives;
- Collaborate with internal partners to modify existing products and services to accommodate new partnerships and potential revenue streams;
- Maintain rapport with internal/external partners and team members to exchange or gather information to assist in high-level business development planning and day-to-day decision making; and
- Provide effective leadership to the Business Development Managers, towards engaging job performance and achievement of their individual program targets, providing them with the necessary resources, coaching and support.
