**Position: Human Resources Generalist**
**Department: Administration**
**Reporting to: Executive Director**
**Classification: Full-time, permanent, 37.50 hours per week**
**Salary Range: $71,955 to $85,000**
**Status: Non-union**

**ABOUT MERRYMOUNT**

Merrymount Family Support & Crisis Centre is an accredited Children’s Mental Health Centre that provides around-the-clock family capacity building and support services, for children aged 0 to 12, across London, Middlesex, Elgin and Oxford Counties. Merrymount provides a wide range of crisis, respite and early intervention mental health services and programs to strengthen children and their families. All Merrymount programs are tailored to the individual needs of the child, and to the needs of the family to support the child.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Human Resources Generalist will oversee the Human Resources function, initiating and implementing HR strategies, identifying, and introducing continuous improvements to policies and procedures, and provide coaching and advice to all employees. Additionally, this position provides organizational support to the Director of Finance and Program Managers.

**ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

Health & Safety:
1. Lead management representation on JHSC.
2. Manage the ongoing Health and Safety Audit process.
3. Oversee the Job Hazard Analysis process to assess, control and communicate workplace hazards.
4. Administer an effective Health and Safety Training and Orientation Plan based on legal and agency requirements including worker hazard awareness and supervisor competency.
5. Monitor and review a process for incident reporting and investigation including types of incidents, selecting lead investigators, timeline, documentation, corrective actions, etc.
6. Post required health and safety materials including policies, procedures, legislation, training certifications, etc.
7. Work with JHSC to conduct a monthly workplace inspection; identify and address unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, hazardous situations and concerns of individuals.
8. Manage First Aid resources for agency including First Aid and CPR training, distribution of first aid stations, inspecting first aid resources, etc.
9. Manage Return to Work (RTW) process including offering RTW planning to injured workers, obtaining medical documentation describing restrictions, matching injured worker capabilities to job demands, maintaining communication with RTW stakeholders, etc.

Human Resources:
1. Develop and recommend plans, priorities and goals for staffing, organizational development, and continuous improvement of teamwork, competency, capability and results that support the Merrymount Mission, Vision and Strategy.

2. Promote and encourage open, two-way communication, mutual respect and positive, cooperative, supportive, motivating work relationships and environments.

3. Coach and advise Managers and Coordinators in effective supervisory leadership, team building, and employee relations practices and methods.

4. Maintain up-to-date knowledge and advise Managers, Coordinators and staff to ensure compliance with all employment legislation including Employment Standards, Human Rights, Pay Equity, and Labour Relations.

5. Develop and assist Managers and Coordinators in the development of job descriptions and job analyses to support selection, performance planning and evaluation, training and development plans, organizational effectiveness, job evaluation, etc.

6. Develop and carry out policies, procedures and systems to recruit, select and assign the best qualified, most capable and effective employees.

7. In conjunction with Managers and Coordinators, manage methods, practices and procedures for planning employee goals, objectives and standards, providing on-going coaching and feed-back, evaluating performance and recognizing and rewarding achievement and ability.

8. In consultation with Managers, Coordinators and staff, develop plans and coordinate activities for education, training and development to strengthen capabilities and performance and to meet regulatory requirements.

9. Develop and recommend compensation policies and practices that help attract, retain and motivate well-qualified and effective employees.

10. Advise and counsel Managers and Coordinators in preventing and resolving specific personnel and labour relations problems lawfully and as constructively, objectively and consistently as possible in accordance with policies and procedures.

11. Counsel employees alone or with Managers and Coordinators, and assist the Managers and Coordinators with disciplinary actions, in cases of unsatisfactory performance, attendance, behaviour, etc.

12. Manage personnel files and records and HR information systems to meet the needs of management/supervisory decision-making, regulations and internal policies.
