**Temporary position from May 2023 through December 2024.**

ICI Ottawa-Gatineau is looking for a Content Producer for the 6 p.m. Téléjournal newscast. Reporting to the Executive Producer, and in conjunction with other producers, you will chase one or more guests daily for live or recorded interviews in studio or on location. You will perform all related aspects of production and may occasionally be required to create content for digital platforms. You are also responsible for preparing the Téléjournal’s opening headlines and helping reporters with their stories or live hits.

Additionally, you must organize the Panel capitale nationale aired live on Thursdays. You must show leadership, independence, creativity, thoroughness, timeliness and team focus. You work well under pressure and are dedicated to excellence.

**Key tasks**:

- Conceive and develop story pitches and concepts for the 6 p.m. Téléjournal. Participate in the preparation of program objectives.
- Develop the program content, including assigning, researching, gathering, writing and/or editing. As required, commission writing and/or research. Prepare scripts. Determine the style, pace, tempo, lineup and format of the program.
- Plan, organize and coordinate the program or the components and/or segments of a program or programs.
- Plan, select and request, in tandem with the unit or business manager, financial and production/resource requirements, including creative contributors and other participants, equipment and facilities. During program preparation, production and post-production, be responsible and accountable for exercising budget authority.
- Exercise editorial responsibility as delegated by management.
- Evaluate all components of a production, including the performance of program and production personnel and freelance contributors.

**As required, perform the following tasks**:

- Direct sound and/or image.
- Select, re-write and/or edit copy or text written by others.
- Ensure, in collaboration with copyright clearance officers or others, the proper and accurate clearance of all material used in the program.
- Determine the order and importance of various elements of a program.
- Assign, coordinate and supervise the work of personnel who contribute to the program or segment for which you are responsible.
- Identify, develop and maintain contacts appropriate to the area of assignment.
- Ensure that the live broadcast goes to air smoothly by assisting the control room team.
- Oversee website design and structure, and organize and coordinate online content.
- Supervise the shooting, editing, encoding, digitizing and packaging of digital audio and video for digital segments.
- Prepare programs for the web, including coding and manipulating images and graphics.
- Edit and mix, or direct the editing and mixing of, audio and/or visual elements (requires proficiency with MediaCentral/iNEWS and quick editing skills).
- Ensure the maintenance of a level of communication or rapport with members of the audience that is both feasible and appropriate to the style and nature of the program, and participate in this activity as necessary.
- Coordinate quick makeup sessions with in-studio guests.
- University degree or the equivalent with five years’ experience, of which three must involve work in broadcasting or a closely related industry, directly related to the area of assignment.
- Strong team leadership skills with the ability to inspire others.
- Demonstrated talent as a programmer with an ear for pacing, tone, presentation and production.
- Superior writing, editorial and production skills; interest in cross-platform media production.
- Solid journalistic background.
- Ability to choose relevant, audience-focused stories that reflect issues being discussed by the public
