**Your role**

The Content Lifecycle team within CBC’s Transformation Office curates, describes, researches and preserves CBC content for today and tomorrow. We connect our clients to the material they need to tell great stories and we share our research expertise and knowledge of CBC's rich media collections. Through our efforts, the history and culture of Canada as reflected in CBC programming is documented, preserved and accessible. Our services are available to all our regional and national content creators.

We are seeking a Media Librarian to support this work within our Content Retention group. As a member of the Acquisitions team, you will be employing your skills as an information professional by selecting and cataloguing CBC’s content in accordance with CBC’s corporate and departmental standards and policies. Work is governed by CBC programming and journalistic policies as well as various agreements governing the possible use of these materials.

**Key Tasks**:

- Accurately summarize audio/video content required for retention.
- Catalogue and classify content using metadata standards and controlled vocabularies.
- Prepare detailed summaries of the content of programs and/or library holdings.
- Screen broadcast material and select stock footage, prepare shot lists.
- Troubleshoot metadata and problematic files as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of or experience cataloging digital collections.
- Technical knowledge of recording media is an asset.
- Understanding of file-based production workflows, systems and tools is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills working in a team environment.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Self-motivated and self-sufficient.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, evenings, early mornings, weekends and/or holidays when required.
- Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada programming is an asset.
- 1 year of comparable and relevant experience.
